#1 Blogging is Waste of time
Well, yes, some people do believe it. But it is
otherwise. A study by HubSpot says
companies that have blogs get 55% more
monthly visitors and have 97% more
inbound links.
#2 You cannot make money
out of your blog
This has been the belief for many years. But
facts prove otherwise. People like Pat Flynn,
Jeff Bullas and Jon Morrow are making
hundreds of thousands of
dollars from their blogs.
#3 You need to have social media
accounts on all platforms
Honestly, you don't. Different kinds of blogs
do well on different social platforms. And as
a blogger you need to know, by
experimenting, what kind of platform
is the best for your niche.
#4 One strategy is better than other
Some blogs do very well on Social media
while some get their maximum traffic from
search engines. On the other hand there are
some complex niches, in which advertising
is your best bet.
You must have top quality content. But,
unfortunately, that's not it. Best content won't do
well if your site isn't attractive or user friendly.
So having a user friendly and
responsive site is must.
#5 Content over everything else
#6 You have to write lots of blog posts
False, again. Yes if you have time you could do
it. But writing quality content on a consistent
basis is what will work in the long run instead of
writing lots of average or below average
blog posts.
#7 More traffic corresponds to
more money
Nope. You can have only hundred visitors a day
and yet earn more than someone whose site
has thousand visitors a day.
What matters the most, here, is
'What percentage of the total people who visit
your site are actually interested in your content
and the service or product you offer?'
#8 You can only create a blog
if you have good language skills
Not true. Having good language skills is a plus
but if you don't, you can develop along the way.
The more you read and write, the better you get.
#9 Do not share competitor's blog
Wrong approach. You should, actually this will
helps both the parties as you get a credible
resource to support your article and it links back
to the competitor's site.
Next time you could get a link back from your
competitor thus creating mutual respect.
#10 You must get results immediately
Many quit blogging within days of starting
because of lack of traffic. That's what you
shouldn't do. Blogging takes time.
It's a slow process. Be patient and
eventually you will start to see results.
