1. Risking Our Lives for Korea
By 2009, I completed my military service, which lasted for a year and ten months. As
the sergeant of the military service of Korea, I managed more than 70 Corporate
Officers, as well as fulfilling numerous military-related tasks. The photo illuminates
one of the major exercises during which I covered the fellow soldiers who are placed
on the foreground. From the back, I supported them by directing them to move to
specific places. I felt privileged, as this was an exercise that took place once in five
years – in terms of the duration, the exercise lasted for more than a month. In this
timeframe, I encountered and interacted with people whom I have not met before –
as one of the compensations for successfully completing this exercise, I received
about five days of vacation.
2. Obtaining the Driver Certificate
I am showcasing my driver license, which
I obtained after my final examination two
years ago. At the time, I was proud of the
result, as I spent four weeks in terms of
preparing for the final examination within
the Seoul academy. Twice a week, I
fulfilled practical applications and utilized
educational resources to fulfill the
trainings. During my final round of test, my
supervisor commended me because I did
not make any mistakes. In the final
examination, I completed the targeted
rounds within twelve minutes – an
impressive result. In the course of fulfilling
these tasks, I conveyed confidence and
completed all rounds with meticulous care,
for I never lost my focus and composure..
3. Travelling with Friends and the
Teacher
• In 2010, I went to Philippine for a study trip. Learning English and
travelling with my friends, I stayed within the country for about two
months. The photo illuminates me, my friends, and the English teacher
on June 14th, 2009. On this day, we visited the local island and went
swimming for the whole afternoon. At night, we strolled throughout the
whole island, meeting local residents, thereby forming friendships with
them; we made one of the most unforgettable experiences in our lives.
To this day, I am in contact with everyone, as I feel strong connection
with them – occasionally, I utilize social medium to keep in touch with
them.
4. Volunteering to Help Kids
In 2010, I visited Cebu to enhance my
English communication skills. During this
time, I and my friend (Sujeong) volunteered
to help out orphans who do not have
proper home and foods to survive: we
distributed hamburgers and told stories to
entertain the kids – for some reason, we
felt a strong bond with the kids. From this
experience, I became more appreciative of
my life, feeling sympathy for those who do
not have shelters and necessities in their
lives. Although we did not possess enough
funding, we helped more than 200 kids
within the area – next time, I and Sujeong
promised to help out more kids in the
remote future.
5. On the Chocolate Hill
In 2010, I visited Cebu to learn English and to
discover a new culture in Cebu with my girlfriend
(Jiin Kim). We visited Bohol island. The photo
illuminates me and my girlfriend standing in front of
‘the Chocolate Hill’, which is named after its round
appearance. For us, the place has a value, for this
was our first trip. At the top of the hill, we took
pictures of our surrounding and made unique
memories. Through this trip, we strengthened our
relationship, getting ever more closer. We hope to
get married and return to this place for our
honeymoon.
