Committee (IOC)
• This is the top committee of the Olympic
Movement. It is chosen from member
counties. Its main jobs are:
1. To select the cities where the Games will
be held.
2. To decide which sports will be included.
3. To work with the host city and other
bodies to plan the Games
4. To lead the fight against doping in sport.
3. What the IOC have done….
• Set up the WADA in 1999, in lead up to
Sydney 2000.
• Performed over 2000 out of competition
urine tests on international athletes in 28
summer sports in 82 different nations.
4. Funding
• Sale of TV rights.
• TV company pay billions for the rights
broadcast the Olympic Games.
• Sponsors are not allow to advertise in
stadiums.
• They can use the Olympic Rings.
• Exclusive hospitality.
• The best advertising slots when the
games are broadcast.
5. MONEY
• The IOC divides is money between:
1. The International Sports Federations
2. The National Olympic Committees
3. The Local Organizing Committee for
each Olypics
6. The British Olympic Association

1. To select the British team for the Olympic
Games
2. To raise money to send the team to the
Games.
3. To work with the governing bodies to prepare
the athletes.
4. To make arrangements for getting there.
5. To select the city which will bid to host the
Games
