In close cooperation with Telenor, Centre Consulting developed a solution for organizations to
collect, validate and consolidate the required sustainability reporting dataset. This unique
solution will help to harmonize and standardize the current sustainability reporting in large
organizations and will replace the existing MS Excel worksheets with a proven standard
application. The application will support the sustainability reporting processes and will improve
the quality and speed of the reporting processes.

Global Reporting Initiative (GRI)

The Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) is a network-based organization that produces a
comprehensive sustainability reporting framework that is widely used around the
world. GRI is committed to the Framework’s continuous improvement and application
worldwide. GRI’s core goals include the mainstreaming of disclosure on
environmental, social and governance performance.

GRI's Reporting Framework is developed through a consensus-seeking, multi-

Default conversions are predefined in the application. The administrator can
always make exceptions by overriding these conversions. An reporting entity itself
can also override these conversions.

How this override process works is shown in the following sheets. 30


Conversions

Conversion factors Training
Conversion factors may be entered to a data entry form or loaded from a data file on an annual basis. It is anticipated that the same
conversion factors will be used throughout an annual reporting cycle although these factors may change from year to year.

Conversion factors must be entered for each energy source in use (e.g. coal, natural gas, diesel etc.). The conversion factors provide
the conversion ratio from weight or volume of source energy into a measure of energy and a measure of the greenhouse gasses
emitted upon consumption. Energy sources may be measured by weight (e.g. metric tonnes, kilograms), volume (e.g. cubic
metres, litres) or energy (e.g. mega-joules, kilowatt-hours, therms). A conversion factor must be provided for any weight or volume
UOM used, or the calculations of energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions will be incomplete.

Weight and volume factors may be entered in one of three combinations (weight and volume, weight and density or volume and
density). For further details of this setup, please refer to the Sustainability Reporting Starter Kit Implementation Guide.
