1. The MockingJay symbol is the most
prominent feature on this cover. The
glow emanates out from behind it
and the two graphics circle jut out
from it. The round nature of the
symbol is also built to draw the eye,
with the lines leading into the bird
and the round border acting as a
bullseye.
The circular
graphics are quite
futuristic, hinting at
the Sci-Fi/Future
setting. Theyʼre also
clean and stylish
symbols, which ties into this whole
idea of symbols being important and
prominent in the Hunger Games
covers.
This cover links in most with the
Hunger Games colour scheme, the
burnt Red-Gold colours. These
colours can symbolize a few things in
the story, first and mainly the fire,
both in the title and a symbol of the
main character.
It also evokes the danger and
violence of the games.
Itʼs also quite a royal colour, which
can suggest the upperclass rich of
the story, who the
main characters
seek to
overthrow.
The “Caching
Fire” title is
big and bold,
coloured in
stark white
with a black outline. The white ties
into the fire colour scheme, as the
white hot center of a flame. This title
is the third focus point, with the other
two being the authors name and the
MockingJay symbol. These are the
most important elements, the bits the
designer wants you to register. Apart
from these three parts the cover is
pretty plain.
