Editor's Notes
We have 5 senses. They are sight, hearing, touch, smell and taste. We need our five senses so that we can see and hear what’s going on. Be able to taste the food we eat. Smell and touch the objects that are around us.
Lets look at the sense of sight. What do we use to see? Eyes. When you look around the classroom what objects can you see right now? If you don’t have the sense of sight you may use other senses to figure out what things are.
What do we use to hear? We use our ears! You hear a bell, bubbles and birds. If you couldn’t hear, how would you communicate with others? The answer would be to learn sign language and communicate that way!
What do we use for touch? Our hands and our feet. This sense allows us to feel the objects around us and figure out what they are by using the shapes, textures and sizes. If you didn’t have the sense of sight, this would be a great way for a person to be able to figure out what something is!
What do we use to smell, our noses. Good smelling things and bad smelling things. Give examples of both. Ask them!
