1. What have you learnt about
technology from the process of
constructing this product?
2. All these elements have allowed me to create a successful magazine and are skills I can use in later Life. I feel that the
skills I have developed on Photoshop have been the main influence in enhancing my media product. Photoshop was
software I was very unfamiliar with at the start of the project and I had very little knowledge on the different tools and
what they provided. This came across in my preliminary task for example my main image I used the rubber tool to
crop round the majority of the photo this mean that it was of bad quality and didn’t show much capability. However
with the practice I have learnt I was able to use the magic wand tool or the quick select tool which selected instantly
the parts of the photo that were irrelevant making a much neater cut in comparison to the rubber tool which has to
be done manually.
As I was not familiar with the software it meant that a lot more time was spent on the creation of the magazine as I
didn’t know what the short cuts of doing things were for example “cmd+t” allows you to resize and move the image
you have selected around, also “cmd+d” deselects a layer or image or tool you have clicked on without having to click
anything. They are just are just a few example of short cuts that are very simple to use however can save a lot of time
in the creation of the magazine. However as I didn’t know these to begin with my time management was effected due
to the increasing amount of time I was spending on constructing my magazine meaning deadlines were a lot harder to
stick to. However during the time I used getting use to the software I also learnt how I could utilise different tools to
make my magazine even better.

3. iMacs
I used the college’s iMacs throughout the entirety of the course, for both practical and coursework
lessons and tasks, when running the programs I used to create my magazine and put together my
research of my target audience, music magazines, music genre and magazine styling. I progressed m
skills on this up to date software as I used them more and more however I was generally familiar with
the software and had some knowledge on how to work it. Without these products and pieces of
equipment I would not have been able to complete my work as it is very online based and requires
the use of certain programs such as the blog, Microsoft Word and Photoshop for me to present
certain elements of my practical work and coursework.
4. Resources and Programs
I used a variety of different online programs and resources when putting together both practical work and
coursework. I used the schools personal blog to upload my coursework as well as my research this also mean I had to
learn how to embed the post onto my blog which some resources required to enable others to view your work. I used
prezi.com as a form of presentation this became particular helpful during my evaluation stage and gave a fun way of
presenting work it was also quite simple to use and didn’t take like to work out how to use the tools., iMovie which I
bought from the app store to create videos such as my magazine pitch and research into my target audience. I also
used slide share to post any PowerPoint and Word presentations to my blog.
Overall I feel that during the project I have learnt a great deal about different technologies from using different web
sources to display my work in a fun interesting way to building and progressing my Photoshop skills to learning how to
take a photo effectively. All the skills I have learnt over the project will be massively beneficial to me in later life and
will be definitely used again.
