Life Space (Crisis) Intervention is an approach that can be used beyond just crisis situations. It originated from techniques like the Marginal Interview and Life Space Interview. The approach focuses on establishing trust between a child and adult and using reality-based discussions to help the child. Complex trauma can affect multiple domains of a child's functioning including attachment, affect regulation, dissociation, and self-concept. The Circle of Courage model focuses on building competence, usefulness, belonging, and independence. Therapeutic dialogue techniques aim to help clients feel safe and supported, accept responsibility, and learn new ways of behaving.
