Objectives
• Highlight theories that support the use of
technology in writing.
• Model the use of technology, online story
generators, for creative writing.
• Practice using online story generators
DEPR Grade-level Expectations
Through the use of an online story generating
program the student will: (W 4 – W12)
-Conceptual: Apply organizational patterns and
the elements of narrative forms to create a story.
-Procedural: Write a story using correct
sentence structures and punctuation.
-Attitudinal: Willingly use writing in a creative
manner.
THEORIES THAT SUPPORT
• Social Constructionist Theory
• Main Idea: Knowledge constructed by group discourse
(Piaget; Vygostsky; Bandura)
• Technology integration
• actively engaging students
• provides multiple windows for social interactions
• users are active participants, engaged in creating,
maintaining and expanding Web content
Lesson Development
Learning Activities:
• After reviewing the story elements, students will work
together with a peer to write a short story using an online
story generator.
• Teacher will discuss the project rubric with students.
• The teacher will hand out graphic organizers so that the
students can organize their ideas for their story.
Lesson Development
• The teacher will present the online story generator, My
Story Maker to students.
• Each pair of students will develop their characters, choose
their settings and write a coherent story that includes:
introduction, rising action, climax, falling action and
resolution.
• After completing the story, the students can read their
work from the Author’s Chair.

  • 3. Objectives • Highlight theories that support the use of technology in writing. • Model the use of technology, online story generators, for creative writing. • Practice using online story generators
  • 4. DEPR Grade-level Expectations Through the use of an online story generating program the student will: (W 4 – W12) -Conceptual: Apply organizational patterns and the elements of narrative forms to create a story. -Procedural: Write a story using correct sentence structures and punctuation. -Attitudinal: Willingly use writing in a creative manner.

THEORIES THAT SUPPORT • Social Constructionist Theory • Main Idea: Knowledge constructed by group discourse (Piaget; Vygostsky; Bandura) • Technology integration • actively engaging students • provides multiple windows for social interactions • users are active participants, engaged in creating, maintaining and expanding Web content

Lesson Development Learning Activities: • After reviewing the story elements, students will work together with a peer to write a short story using an online story generator. • Teacher will discuss the project rubric with students. • The teacher will hand out graphic organizers so that the students can organize their ideas for their story.
  • 7. Lesson Development • The teacher will present the online story generator, My Story Maker to students. • Each pair of students will develop their characters, choose their settings and write a coherent story that includes: introduction, rising action, climax, falling action and resolution. • After completing the story, the students can read their work from the Author’s Chair.
