2. In order to learn more,
we visited the History
Museum of the "AI. I.
Cuza" University in Iasi
3. We learned how
archaeologists work to
reconstruct the past
Now we know that in
Moldavia, where the
city of Iaşi is situated,
people have lived since
the Prehistoric period,
meaning about 7000
years ago!
7. The Cucuteni culture is characterized by a high quality
ceramic, painted in a rich and varied way.
Ceramics of the Cucuteni culture are unique in Europe,
with quite striking similarities between Cucuteni pottery
and ceramics from Neolithic culture in China. Between
these two cultures there is a very long distance, as the
Chinese one appeared after about a millennium later than
Cucuteni.
8. Cucuteni ceramics with different shapes:
cups, bowls, trays, fruit bowls, decorated with spiral-
meander, incised grooves or painted in three colors:
white, red and black
9. Motive spiral - meaning life and the continuity of life
after death
