This small book is the result of a two week exercise to introduce students to the richness and depth of thought contained in the Dao De Jing, the primary text of Daoism. This small volume is said to contain, by some scholars, the cultural genes of China. The students were invited to a select a few passages that interested them and then express their understandings in a non-verbal form. The understanding thus gained were applied to the assignment for the remainder of the term, the design of a Daoist Learning Center in the hills north of Beijing, near the Great Wall.
