Body Organization ! Chapter # 2 By: Precious Blanton
Introduction Our body is like a complex machine. It takes a lot to keep it working properly. Each part has a job to do and each part does it special job, it works in harmony with all the others. During this presentation I hope you get a better understanding of the important of the five levels of the human body . Starting with the smallest to the highest. The first, is the cells. Second are the tissues, third, is organs, fourth is system, and last is body.
Learning Objectives Body Organization at a Glance Body Organization Illustrated Levels of body Organization Body Cells , tissues, organs and Systems Body
Body Organization at a Glance. Arrangement- the body that is organized into levels. Each level is built from the one below it. In other words, the body as a whole is composed of system, a system is composed of organs, an organ is composed of tissues, and tissues are composed of cells. Levels ,[object Object],Combing form- I believe that we all should have a idea by now what combing from are. In fact, combing form, abbreviation , and word building, we have cover in the first chapter. All three are used throughout this book. However, I’m going to freshen you all memories. For example, ,[object Object]
Abbreviation- BMT- bone marrow transplant, and CBC- Complette blood count.
Word Building – gastr/o becomes gastric or ventr/o becomes vental. ,[object Object]
Cells: There are lots of Different Kinds! Here are two examples. Can you guess what kind? Skins Cells Nerves Cells
Ok, lets take another look Here are the cells we saw before, but if you look closely, you can see that they both look similar. Nerve cells working together make nerve tissue, and skin cells make up a special type of epithelial tissue.
Tissues Cells that are similar in structure and function are usually joined together to form tissues, tissues are the second levels of organization. There are four basic/major types of tissues in the human body: Muscle tissue,- help produces movements in the body through contraction, or shortening in length, and is composed of individual muscle cells called muscle fibers. nerve tissue – is composed of cells called neurons. connective tissue – is the supporting and protecting tissues in body structures. epithelial tissue or epithelium – is found throughout the body and is composed of close – packed cells that form the covering for lining of body structures. There are other kinds of tissues besides these.) Other kinds of tissue include bone tissue (a strong solid tissue that gives you shape and support) made of bone cells in your body form bone tissue. Blood cells in your body are part of blood tissue, a liquid tissue responsible for transporting food and oxygen throughout the body.
For example , here is four types of tissues, lets see if you can match them where they belong?A). Nervous tissueB). Connective tissues C). Muscle tissues D). Epithelial tissues A. B. C. D.
Organs Organs are composed of numerous tissues grouped together to perform a specific function . for example, the heart is an organ in the circulatory system, the lungs are organs in the digestive system. When a bunch of different types of tissues work, together they from organs. How many of this organs can you name? B). BB A). C).
Organ and Systems of the body! Each organ in your body is part of an organ system, a group of organs that work together to perform a major function. For example, lets take my heart. heart is part of your circulatory system, which carries oxygen and other materials throughout your body. Besides the heart, blood vessels are organs that work in your circulatory system.
Body ( anatomical position) The body is the sum of all the systems , organs, tissues, and cells, found in it. I believe its important to learn the anatomical terminology that applies to the body as a whole in order to correctly identify specific locations and directions when dealing with patients. Body planes- is used to assist medical personal in describing the boody and its parts. Body Regions – the body is divide into large regions that can easily be identified externally. Body Cavities - is not solid structure, it has many open spaces or cavities. Directional and positional Terms – Directional terms assist medical personnel in discussing the position or location of a patient’s complaint. Directional or positional terms also help to describe one process, organ, or system as it relates to another.
Body SystemsHere a example ,
Conclusion I hope that you enjoyed my presentation. As you have learned (Hopefully) the cells, tissues, organs, system, and body, is one of the most important systems in the human body… The body of a living organism may be composed of a single cell - as in unicellular organisms or many cells - as in multicellula.
