1. The Zebra: The Doppler Effect’s Mascot
If we consider a zebras stripes such
as the frequency of waves we can
see a more material demonstration
of the doppler effect.
On the face of the zebra you
see many small stripes, so high
frequency
One the butt of the zebra we
see many stripes, thus low frequency.

The person who stands in front of the herd is going to
see all of the fine face stripes on all the zebra faces.
Which is equivalent of the sound waves of an engine
coming at you all at once. This creates a higher
pitched sound.
The person who stands in back of the herd is
going to see all of the larger butt stripes and not
so many fine line. If the stripes are then
converted to sound you get a much lower pitch.
