Date : Jun 11st , 2012                                             Level   : 1ero Medio

Activity: “much, many, a lot of ...?” Adverbs of quantity II.
Skills: Listening, writing, speaking

Expected outcomes: By the lesson students will be able to work with quantifiers in context. Also students
will be able to distinguishing them by. Resources: Data show, computers, on line dictionary, markers
etc.

                                         Time     Comments:

Introduction :                         15 min Teacher greets the students , calls the roll and introduce
Greetings.                                    The topic which is “Quantifiers”. Teacher explains that this
Roll Calling,                                 the second lesson they are going to work, now by doing
Topic Introduction                            an interactive PowerPoint presentation.
                                               Before doing that, teacher briefly asks to students to
                                              Remind him last lesson contents ( countable, uncountable
.                                              Nous, some quantifiers etc.)


While –Stage                           30 min teacher now starts the presentation. On it , 10 slides show
“Much, Many, a lot of?                          Different sentences to what students must chose among
 Guessing the quantifier in context             “much, a lot of, many”. Each and every slide show the
                                               three alternative plus a 10 seconds timer , so teacher may
                                               ask students to make small groups or play the game all
                                               Together.

                                                As long as the game goes on, teacher may stop and anylase
                                                The sentences individually, so after the students have
                                                Guessed the answer, they will received reinforcement
                                                On nouns, vocabulary and verb forms.


Post- Stage :                          25 min Once the game is over, teacher ask to the students to

Much or many/ some or any ”
                                                on it they have to work on a number of matching exercises
                                                (in pairs) . Teachers pass providing assistance , suggesting
                                                 Students to clarify vocabulary doubts by asking to him or
                                                 By searching on line dictionaries.
                                                 Once the students have finished the first activity, they are
                                                 Asked to go to a second link:

                                                 Now , they have to complete a fill in reading activity
                                                In pairs, where most of the quantifiers they have been
                                                 Working on are included.
After having providing assistance, teachers invite students to share
Closing :            20 min a last quantifiers presentation where all the contents are summarised.
                            Teacher explain the contents and ask students to provided examples
“Quantifiers review”        different from the ones included on the presentation. Also clarify
                             Question about grammar, pronunciation and vocabulary matters.
