A few Internet Jargon’s ISP- A company that allows you to connect your PC to the Internet FTP- A set of rules used for transferring files on the World Wide Web Hyperlink – A clickable item on a Web page that allows you to connect to another web page. Search Engine – A program that helps you to find information located on the Internet. Spam – Unsolicitated email Cookie– a small file sent to you when you visit a web site- This cookie stores information you provide to the website and later when you visit that website it helps to identify you and possibly prepare customized web pages for you URL- unique address for a web page. HTTP- A set of rules frequently used to transfer web pages to a host server on the Internet. Firewall – Prevents unauthorized users in gaining access to a network. email – electronic mail ; distance over which the email is sent does not significantly affect the speed of delivery. Search Engines are software programs that search for the phrase or words you give it to identify the list of web pages where those keywords can be found.
