2. William-Adolphe Bouguereau
(Introduction):
 La Rochelle, France the 30th November of the year 1825.
 He went to a good school and as he showed a great artistic talent,
his father sent him to the School of Fine art in Bordeaux where he
won his first price.
 He married Marie-Nelly Monchablon and they had five children.
 826 paintings.
 He finally died in La Rochelle from a heart disease.

3. Fame and fall:
 William gained wide fame in Belgium, Holland, Spain, and in the
United States.
 American millionaires considered him the most important French
artist at the time.
 In 1900, Degas and Monet named him as most likely to be
remembered as the greatest 19th-century French painter by the year
2000.
 Unfortunately in 1920 he began to have a bad reputation, this is why
for decades following, his name wasn’t even mentioned.

4. “L'Amour et Psyché, enfants”
 L'Amour et Psyché, enfants is one of William’s most famous
paintings.
 It was painted in the year 1890.
 Exposed in a private gallery.
 It has been painted in oil.
 It represents Cupid and Psyche when they were little.
 This painting is commonly known as “The First Kiss” because in a
famous web page about paintings it said so.
