            leucine occurs in skeletal muscle (50%),
            kidney (25%) and gut/liver (25%)
              Nitrogen released is used to form glutamate ->
               alanine -> glucose (alanine aminotransferase
               reaction)

              Leucine + α-Ketoglutarate -> α-Ketoisocaproate and
                Glutamate
              Glutamate and Pyruvate -> α-Ketoglutarate and Alanine
