33. KiryatEliezer neighbourhood in Haifa consists of old “Shikunim” buildings that were built during the 1950s. These are long structures with small apartments and wide unused open space between them. In my vision, I am using the unique composition of the buildings and the open space, in order to make it feel like it belongs to the residents. The Path that can be seen in the master plan and in the detail plan, goes through the whole neighbourhood and receives a different architectural language that breaks the orthogonal paths that are so typical in this place. Bat Galim Border Alon Schwartz Portfolio The vision Aug 2009
36. Create pocket gardens – “Block Gardens”. Use of open space between the buildings. Building’s additions create a sense of identity and belonging for the residents. The open undeveloped space become cozy and usable places. Alon Schwartz Portfolio Aug 2009
37. Walking path referred to in the master plan is treated with a different design language, in contrast to the legacy orthogonal lines of the neighborhood. As a result, the path provides a welcoming environment and a natural gathering point. Alon Schwartz Portfolio Aug 2009
