What is affiliate marketing
• Affiliate marketing is that it is a way of making money online
whereby you as a publisher are rewarded for helping a business
by promoting their product, service or site.
• The industry has four core players: the merchant (also known as
'retailer' or 'brand'), the network (that contains offers for the
affiliate to choose from and also takes care of the payments),
the publisher (also known as 'the affiliate'), and the customer.
• The market has grown in complexity, resulting in the emergence
of a secondary tier of players, including affiliate management
agencies, super-affiliates and specialized third party vendors.

1. First Impression:- First impressions are huge because they set
the tone for a visitor’s entire experience through your
website, including any possible transactions that may take
place now, or in the future.
2. Sell Products That You Have Used:- The way to earn money
with affiliate online businesses is by promoting only products
that you have used, and only what you would recommend to
my friends who want to achieve similar results. I feel that
anyone with an audience has a responsibility to do the same
thing.

3. Describe The Product That You’re Promoting.:- If you’re
actively promoting a product (that you’ve used), you
obviously know something about it. Share your knowledge
with your audience, and they’ll be intrigued and more likely to
click through to learn more.
4. Content First, Affiliate Link Second:- Although I just said you
should always describe the products you promote, the
content that you write should drive the affiliate links that you
offer, not the other way around. Don’t write posts just for the
sake of placing an affiliate link within.

5. Promote One or Two of the Same Type of Products:- If you
keep promoting the same products time and time again, your
audience will begin to realize that there must be something
special about the specific ones you keep bringing up.
6. Utilize a Resources or Tools Page:- A resource or tools page is
a page that consists of helpful links to websites, products and
services related to your niche. This is a perfect spot for
affiliate links, so take advantage of this if you haven’t already.
Types of affiliate marketing
1. Pay Per Click (PPC):- PPC is the most popular type of affiliate
marketing for affiliates with small websites, and probably the
easiest way for them to earn money. In this affiliate marketing
type, the merchant pays his affiliate whenever a visitor is
referred to his site, that is whenever someone clicks through the
merchant's banner or text ads.
2. PayPerPerformance(PPP):- In this type of affiliate program, the
merchant only pays the affiliate whenever his referral translates
into an action that is whenever the visitor he has referred
actually buys something from the merchant's site or when the
visitor becomes a lead for the merchant

3. Pay Per Sale (PPS):- In a pay-per-sale type of affiliate marketing,
the merchants pay the affiliate a certain fee whenever the visitor
he has referred to the merchant's site actually buys something
from the merchant's site. Affiliates are often paid on commission
basis, although other merchants would opt to pay a fixed fee.
4. Pay Per Lead (PPL):- In this type of affiliate marketing, the
affiliate is paid whenever the visitor he referred to the
merchant's site fills up an application form or any similar form
related to the business of the company
Types of affiliate marketing
4. Single-Tier, Affiliate Marketing :- These types of affiliate
marketing are based on the different levels or tiers in the
affiliate network by which payments are made. In a single-tier
affiliate marketing program, the affiliates are only paid based
on the direct sales or traffic he has referred to the merchant.
5. Two-tier affiliate Marketing:- In this the affiliate is not only
paid for the direct traffic or sales that he refers to the
merchant's site, but also on every traffic or sales referred by
various other affiliates who joined the affiliate program
through his recommendation.
Types of affiliate marketing
5. Residual Income Affiliate Marketing :- In residual income
affiliate marketing, the affiliate gets paid not only once for
every customer he has referred to the merchant's site. Rather,
the affiliate is also paid whenever the customer he has
referred returns to the site and purchase another product.
Pros of Affiliate Marketing
1. Online merchants get free ad space and will only pay for
proven results (pay per sale, pay per click, pay per lead).
2. Affiliates, on the other hand, require only an ad-space to
promote the merchants’ products, and thus can enjoy
watching the beautiful sunset while earning cash.
3. Advertisers can promote a product to a vast audience, giving
their brands more exposure and recognition.
4. Marketers can collaborate with affiliate networks and can
pretty much take care of the execution stages, giving the
merchant little to no bother during the procedure.
5. Consumers that come from the affiliate’s site can provide
important information concerning the latest trends and
demands.
Cons of Affiliate Marketing
1. False advertising on the affiliate’s website can destroy a
merchant’s reputation. More and more affiliates are
engaging in this kind of scheme.
2. Affiliates risk not getting paid. The twisted merchant may
simply leave and close down the program without paying the
affiliate.
3. Some affiliates are tricked into a program where they can get
high commissions and then get less than what the merchant
has actually promised. Some programs require the affiliate to
give cash for membership.
4. There are also some unscrupulous individuals who hijack
affiliate links, stealing their commission in the process.
