Primary colors are red, yellow and blue. Secondary colors are green, orange and purple, which are created by mixing two primary colors. A color wheel is used to illustrate the relationships between colors and shows them arranged in a circle. Cool colors like blue, green and purple have a calming effect, while warm colors such as yellow, orange and red have a more energizing effect.

4. They are the only hues that can’t be
created by mixing any other colors
together.
In pigments painting are pure red,
pure yellow, and pure blue.

5. Printer inks and digital primaries are
referred to as cyan, yellow and magenta.
In our classroom we are going to use
these colours.

6. When you combine any two of the
Primary Hues, you get three new
mixtures called Secondary Colours.
Blue/Cyan + Yellow = GREEN
Yellow + Red = ORANGE
Red + Blue/Cyan = VIOLET or PURPLE
