1. I think that Rios is suggesting
that all of us are able to learn a new
language and move to a new country
or try different religions in our life time.
The way that you were raised and the
beliefs that you were taught as a child
will always be with you no matter what.
Even though you learn a new
language you may not always
understand what is being said by the
2. people who were raised in this
environment. I could learn spanish
and move to Mexico but I'm sure I
would still not understand everything
that was going on around me. The
only way one can understand every life
and events is to be a native of that
country or religion. So in a sense, just
like he is explaining, you would still
have no one to talk to.
2. I think he titles it this way to try to
get the readers to be curious of what is
3. going to happen. Even though not all
of us are catholic we still know or have
heard something about this religion. It
makes us curious as to see what
happens to this young child in this
catholic religion setting.
3. I think this is a good story. It tells
about the boy's culture and family
along with the way he incorporated his
life in the church at a young age. I
believe he covered all the elements for
a good story. The title makes you
4. curious and what to read it to see what
it is all about, the subjects and the
story line are very believable. This
could happen in someone's life any
day.
4. Rio's stance on being an altar boy
were not so good at first. He didn't
want to do it but his mother kind of
jumped in and said that he would. He
also thought he was too young to do
the job. When the priest said, "I think
it's time", he replied that life as he
knew it had come to an end! His
stance to this was very disagreeable.
He wanted nothing to do with it. I feel
that this is appropriate for him because
he knew nothing about what he was
going to be doing and he was very
young. I think he felt he was too young
5. to do the job well and make everyone
proud of him. But he also knew it was
something his mother really wanted so
he did it for her more than himself.
