Hotel in Cusco
In the afternoon we start to explore the city of Cusco on a tour, in which the guide
will explain the history and significance of our Inca culture and vast changes that took
place with the Spanish Conquest. You will visit the main plaza, the Cathedral, and the
Temple of the Sun or Koricancha. We then visit the ruins on the outskirts of the city,
stopping at the Inca ritual site of Quenqo, the water temple of Tambomachay, the
customs house of Puca Pucara and the impressive Fortress of Saqsaywaman, built
strategically on the hill above city of Cusco. It's famous for its enormous stone blocks,
assembled with incredible precision to form the imposing external walls of the
complex. Some of the stones stand 9 meters tall and weigh more than 350 tons. We
then return you to your hotel. (B)

staircase running through the middle provides safe access to the platforms above. From atop you obtain spectacular views of
the vast expanses of standing forest cut by the Tambopata River winding through the middle. Now and then toucans, parrots or
macaws are seen flying against the horizon, or mixed species canopy flocks land in the treetop next to you. (D)
Ecotourism Lecture. A daily presentation on the Infierno Ecotourism project is available every night from a staff member.
Overnight at Posada Amazonas
Breakfast. (B)
Tres Chimbadas Oxbow Lake: Tres Chimbadas is thirty minutes by boat and forty five
minutes hiking from Posada Amazonas. Once there you will paddle around the lake in
a catamaran, searching for the resident family of nine giant river otters (seen by 60%
of our lake visitors) and other lakeside wildlife such as caiman, hoatzin and horned
screamers.
Parrot clay lick: This clay lick is only a twenty minute walk from Posada Amazonas.
From a blind located about twenty meters away you will see dozens of parrots and
parakeets descend on most clear mornings to ingest the clay on a river bank. Species
such as Mealy and Yellow- headed Amazon, Blue-headed Parrot and Dusky headed
Parakeet descend at this clay lick. The clay lick is active at dawn, during the late
mornings and mid-afternoons. (A)
Ethno botanical Tour: A twenty minute boat drive downriver leads you to a trail
designed by the staff of the Centro Ñape. The Centro Ñape is a communal
organization that produces medicines out of forest plants and administers them to
patients who choose their little clinic. They have produced a trail which explains the
different medicinal (and other) uses of selected plants. (D)
Night walk: You will have the option of hiking out at night, when most of the
mammals are active but rarely seen. Much easier to find are frogs with shapes and
sounds as bizarre as their natural histories.
Overnight at Posada Amazonas
Breakfast. Transfer Boat - Posada Amazonas to Tambopata River Port. Transfer Tambopata River Port to Puerto Maldonado
Headquarters. Transfer Puerto Maldonado Headquarters - Airport.
You will retrace the river and road journey back to Puerto Maldonado, to Rainforest Expedition’s office and then transfer to the

DAY 7 : Posada Amazonas
DAY 8 : Puerto Maldonado / Lima
3. 09:00 am: You are picked up at your hotel to begin your tour in Lima's historic city
center.
Visit the Main Square and the Cathedral, where Conquistador Francisco Pizarro is
entombed. Tour the Convent and Church of San Francisco, which hold the oldest
collection of colonial art in the Americas, with an exquisitely carved chorus, a
library of ancient manuscripts, and the Sacristy with paintings by Zurbarán and
Rivera. The grand courtyard of the main cloister is decorated floor-to-ceiling in
blue and white Sevillian tiles, depicting scenes from the bible that dates back to
the 16th Century. Moroccan-style arches lead us to the Catacombs, a subterranean
crypt from the colonial period, where the bones of 25 thousand colonial-era Lima
residents are entombed.
The panoramic tour continues through the most traditional residential areas of the city: San Isidro, Huaca Pucllana, a pre-Inca
adobe pyramid in the heart of the seaside district of Miraflores, the Central Park of Miraflores and down to the cliff-side
shopping complex of Larcomar, a symbol of modern Lima.
We continue the visit to the Larco Museum, founded in 1926. Housed in a unique
colonial residence dating back to the XVII century, built on top of a VIII century
pyramid, this fabulous museum includes the exquisite Collection of Peruvian Gold
and Silver from the olden days, and the Pre-Hispanic Erotic Art Salon. Its pieces have
toured major world museums. Larco is among only a few museums around the world
opening their vaults to the public, with over 45,000 archaeological pieces that have
been classified by renowned specialists and scholars. Most importantly, the Larco
Museum offers a clear and demonstrative explanation why Peru has recently been
recognized as the world's Sixth Cradle of Civilization, contemporaneous with Egypt,
Mesopotamia, India, Mexico and China. (B) Hotel in Lima
