Most people learn The Gospel According to You before they
ever pick up a bible and read the Gospels According to Matthew, Mark,
Luke, or John. This message takes a look at what that means for your life.

I just got done reading Acts last
night. It was kind of like a good
book that I didn't want to end.
Now I don’t know what to do.
When I was done I set my bible
down and looked around kind of
lost. To be honest, the Bible has
never been that way for me...I
never used to understand people
who just couldn't wait to read
their Bible, I would have moments

their Bible, I would have moments
where it really stuck a nerve, but
in general it was kind of a chore.
Acts was seriously amazing.
Reading this stuf f and then
thinking, wow, that actually
happened. Paul was actually in jail
for years for spreading the truth.
He actually got flogged like 4
times in the same chapter.
Whoa...

Remember, dear brothers and sisters, that few of
you were wise in the world’s eyes or powerful or
wealthy when God called you.
1 corinthians 1:26

Instead, God chose things the world considers fool-
ish in order to shame those who think they are wise.
And he chose things that are powerless to shame
those who are powerful. God chose things despised
by the world, things counted as nothing at all, and
used them to bring to nothing what the world
considers important. As a result, no one can ever
boast in the presence of God.

In his grace, God has given us different gifts for doing
certain things well. So if God has given you the ability
to prophesy, speak out with as much faith as God has
given you. If your gift is serving others, serve them
well. If you are a teacher, teach well. If your gift is to
encourage others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give
generously. If God has given you leadership ability, take
the responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift for
showing kindness to others, do it gladly.
romans 12:6-8

Are we all apostles? Are we all prophets? Are we all
teachers? Do we all have the power to do miracles?
Do we all have the gift of healing? Do we all have the
ability to speak in unknown languages? Do we all have
the ability to interpret unknown languages? Of course
not! So you should earnestly desire the most helpful
gifts.
1 corinthians 12:29-31

“If you’re exhilarated when guilty people get what they
deserve, you value justice. (If you feel better when they
don’t get what they deserve, you’re more motivated by
mercy.) If you’re crazy about arranging flowers, beauty
is probably a core value. If you love cats, you have no
core values at all.”

And we know that God causes everything to work
together for the good of those who love God and are
called according to his purpose for them. For God
knew his people in advance, and he chose them to
become like his Son, so that his Son would be the
firstborn among many brothers and sisters.
romans 8:28-30

Just as our bodies have many parts and each part
has a special function, so it is with Christ’s body. We
are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each
other.
romans 12:4-5

After David had finished talking with Saul, he met
Jonathan, the king’s son. There was an immediate
bond of love between them, and they became the best
of friends. From that day on Saul kept David with him
and wouldn’t let him return home. And Jonathan
made a solemn pact with David, because he loved him
as he loved himself. Jonathan sealed the pact by
taking off his robe and giving it to David, together with
his tunic, sword, bow, and belt.
1 Samuel 18:1-4

We are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his
appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we
plead, “Come back to God!”
2 corinthians 5:20

I declare today that I have been faithful. If anyone
suffers eternal death, it’s not my fault.
