33. The Stittsville RAMS Peewees are geared up for a season full of great coaching, team bonding, and creating skillsets
that will carry them into years to come. Youth hockey is an experience for all the players, each and every year , to gain
skills in not only the dynamics of the game of hockey, but inTeam building, Leadership , Responsibility and
Commitment. Coming from all areas of Stittsville and it’s various schools, some of these boys met for the first time on
ice. Yet they already show lots of promise in Exhibition games. In the opening game against the Kanata Blazers they
started looking like they were a group of players who had barely played with each other. Then it started to come
together and replied with 3 unanswered goals, resulting in a come from behind 3-2 win over Kanata.
Revving up for the season...The team comes together
In the second Exhibition game, the team hit
their stride, as they blanked home team our
rivalCrusaders. The Defence helped keep
up the pressure by frequently cutting off
the Crusaders attempts to clear the puck
from their zone, and then shooting on goal.
Play went end to end throughout this
very exciting game.The exhibition game
with theCrusaders indicate a
forthcoming season of close rivalry. From
breakout to scoring, the passing made a
big contribution to the team win. Time
and time again an attack was sprung from
defence to offence.
It looks like an exciting and fun season
ahead. We’re looking forward to it.
Go RAMS Go!
34. Stittsville RAMS took the Challenge and Ran with It
Before the boys even got their blades dull in regular season, they would be off to
Toronto to play at the Canlan Ice Sports Arena at York University for their first Away
Tournament of the year. The coaching staff and parents alike saw the players meld
together as the team to be reckoned with and rise victorious to win Silver against
some truly tough, hard hitting opponents. Our record of 1 tie, 2 losses, and 1 win
brought us all the way to some Semi Final action where they took down the
undefeated Cooksville Phantoms in a 2-1 intense overtime win for the RAMS. This
was undoubtedly the highlight of the tournament for our boys and brought them to
the Final Game.
The Whitby Wildcats ended our chant by taking the gold from within our reach but
this was not to dismay our positive and enthusiastic players. We walked away with
the knowledge that this team; this years’ RAMS, made that "Finals" game appearance
on their own merit, with perseverance and great forward and defensive action. But
after 4 days of intense hockey it was not to be for our boys, however, we would still go
home proud.
Coach Yakabuski stated after this stellar performance that this was a “Great start to
the 2012/13 season for the RAMS. We started to build our team image around hard
work, physical play and being a puck control team. We want to be the team that
others ‘don’t like to play against’ as we overheard two opponent teams this weekend
state "We hope we don’t play Stittsville in the finals". Lots of opportunity for
improvement and a LONG WAY to reaching the potential of what this team can
accomplish this year. But VERY optimistic, given the kids have come together as a
team in a very short time. I EXPECT BIG THINGS and am confident that the kids have
what it takes to meet and exceed those expectations. Making mistakes is the path to
growth and success. Our coaching staff is looking FWD to seeing LOTS of MISTAKES
and subsequently lots of growth. ”
We look forward to commencing regular season play back on home ice and a year of
undaunting challenges.
Go RAMS Go!
Congratulations go out to our Major Peewee B team who represented Ottawa this
past Thanksgiving weekend at the Toronto Avalanche Thanksgiving Challenge.

36. Fresh back off the road, the team opened the season with an end to end, fast paced game which resulted in a 2 all tie
with the Mississippi Thunder Kings. Early in the first period there was lots of pressure on our goalie and MTK got the
first goal. The RAMS gradually turned the tide, with the defence keeping the puck in the offensive zone and taking
lots of shots from the blue line. The forwards back checked ferociously. This concerted team effort paid off with our
first goal, so that by the end of the first period the score was one all.
Season Opener - An End to End Game
In the second period our team did some
great passing, but a scramble in front of
our goal gave MTK their second goal. The
RAMS soon replied with a hard shot which
rebounded off the pads of their goalie and
was then neatly put away in the back of
their net. At the end of the second period
the score was 2 all.
MTK tried to put pressure on our goalie,
sometimes even after the whistle, but our
goalie still courageously kept focused on
the puck, holding onto any possible
rebounds.
2-2 was the final score, which did not do
full justice to RAMS great team play, good
shooting from both offence and defence,
and goaltending which just gets better and
better.

39. The last game of the tournament for us was to be played against
the Markam Waxers. Again, the boys brought full momentum
back to the game when they owned the ice and the entire game,
winning 4-1.
The tournament came to a quick end, with only 3 games played,
however, the whole team worked hard and carried out some great
plays. We’re looking forward to some fun games ahead
throughout the rest of the season.
The 8th annual Capital Mid-Season Showdown
brought an amazing 73 teams together in this city.
Teams came from throughout Ontario, Quebec and as
far away as the Greater Sudbury area to showcase
hockey that was fast-paced, filled with intensity and a
true joy to watch. This incredible weekend gave the
RAMS just 3 games but not to deter them from
enjoying their time together as a team and pushing
themselves into the season as a great group of kids
who strove to improve and keep on loving the game of
hockey.
The Friday night start for the RAMS saw them meet
the HamiltonTigers at KRC , resulting in a 5-2
loss. Despite this first lost, they came back strong the
next morning to meet the Orangeville Flyers and to
very effectively take time off the clock by keeping the
puck in the offensive zone as much as
possible. Accurate passes, and some speedy carrying
of the puck up the ice helped increase the pressure on
the Flyers. This game would end in a 2-2 tie and would
leave all of us watching the other teams to see our
chances of staying in and staying strong.
8th Annual Capital Mid-Season Showdown
Tournament presented by the Stittsville Rams
November 23 – 25 , 2012
43. The Stittsville RAMS Major Peewee Rep B team survived the regular season with all teeth in
tack. They came into the first round of playoffs fresh out of a great year of a higher level of
learning for them. In their first game , supporters crowded into the Bells Sensplex arena to
cheer for both teams for some playoff excitement.
Playoffs
The second playoff game found us facing the Leitrim Hawks, which
would prove to be a fast end to end affair. The RAMS, facing
elimination, came out strong in this game. Both teams checked
furiously and effectively. The RAMS’s ability to frequently move the
puck into the offensive zone brought lots of scrambles in front of their
opponents net.And good breakouts kept the game moving back into
their own zone. However, it was not to be that day on Leitrim home ice.
With 36 seconds to go on the clock, the opponents managed to squeak
just one more out for a win. A truly hard fought battle that our boys
need to be very proud of and not to be disheartened.
The last and final game of the playoffs for our boys brought with it a realization that this team would not go
down without a battle. We nipped at the heals of the Ice Dogs from Casselman but eventually succumbed to
them in a 5-1 loss. We went out with a bang, the details of which we have no need to describe for it was
displayed in our hearts and in our passion for this game.We Sang another song when all was said and done
and we will continue to sing that song in our friendships, in our honor and in our tomorrows. We will forever
sing…Go RAMS Go!!!
It would prove to be a phenomenal game for them. The RAMS came out very strong
and goal after goal proved that a well fought battle does have its’ merits.
Throughout the game their opponents,TheTriCity Griffins, kept up the offensive
barrage and found themselves into the third period not being able to make it
happen. Our Defence and Forwards all worked together well to ensure a 7-0 win.
Late in the third, theGriffins still were game to retaliate with very defensive play
which showed us that they were a team to not back down and they faced defeat very
honorably. This win would put our boys in a very good position going into our battle.
