Scope: The NHA Mortgage-Backed Securities Program (NHA MBS) was designed by the Government of
Canada to help investors to take advantage of the opportunities available to make a secure investment in
Canadian residential mortgages. Mortgage-Backed Securities are comprised of pools of amortized
residential mortgages insured by Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC), or other private-
insurers approved by CMHC under the National Housing Act (NHA). The Mortgage Securitization
Department is responsible for the MBS securitization process for CIBC. Mortgage Securitization selects
mortgages for sale through the MBS pooling process on both Target and Excalibur systems. The MBS
process involves the Pooling concepts before selling from CIBC to Investors which includes Pooling,
Applying to CMHC for a pool number, Transmitting the pool file to CMHC, Getting approval of the
mortgages from CMHC and Finalizing the pool.

productivity by supporting the ingestion of key application information and due diligence documents

that will be provided to customers by the lender after the Adjudication team has completed the Case
review and the credit request has been approved.
