4. Page 3 Hello This is cocky. When we arrived he said “hello”. He liked to dance for us. He was a bit of a ‘show off’.
5. Page 4 Hey, hi guys! Taz said, “hello” to a few of his relatives. The Tasmanian Devils were a bit sleepy. Perhaps they were awake all night!
6. Page 5 We saw some emus at Something Wild. They were very tall. They ran very fast. They tried to peck us when we went close to the fence.
7. Page 6 At Something Wild we got to pat a Koala. The Koala was very soft like a pillow. The Koalas have two thumbs on each hand.
8. Page 7 Click on this Possum to hear Mem Fox Reading Possum Magic. We saw some albino possums at Something Wild. Shaun fed them some apples and carrots. They held the food in their hands to eat it. The possums were very cute!
9. Page 8 This is the wombat Jack’s family found. It’s mother was run over by a car. They took it to Something Wild so they could look after it. It gave Jack a big kiss!
10. Page 9 Shaun is showing us the river where the platypus lives. A river flows past Something Wild and often people get to see the platypus that lives there. It didn’t come out during our visit. Platypus are monotremes which means they are egg laying mammals.
11. Page 10 We saw lots of kangaroos and wallabies. Some of them had joeys in their pouches. The joeys popped their heads out to have a look at us!
12. Page 11 The quolls were very cute. Shaun fed them some dried food that looked a bit like cat food. The quolls scurried around quickly. They had sharp pointy teeth.
13. Page 12 We had a great day and then it was time to go back to school. Taz really enjoyed himself but he was very tired on the way home!
