The types of video content are only bound by the creative nature of your marketing team- everything from product tutorials, comedy skits, commercials, and more. But, your business goals boil down to two things.
Look for a verification email and follow the instructions (simply click the link).
If you already had a Google account, after registering, you’ll see this screen. Click the YouTube logo in the upper left to return to the home screen. In order to create a new YouTube account, you need a Google account. If your business already has a Google account, log in to YouTube with that email and password. If not, follow the instructions on this screen. From the YouTube homepage click on the "Sign Up" link located in the top right hand corner. Fill out the form information. Use your company name if you're going to post video just use your company Click the "Create an Account" button A confirmation email is sent with a link to confirm the creation of your account Open the email message click on the link and your account is created Once created click on "Account" in the upper right hand corner On the left hand side you will have a menu of options. Click on the "Profile Setup Complete as much of your profile as you like.
Now that you have a registered YouTube account, this is your YouTube homescreen. Note that your username appears in the upper right hand corner next to a down-pointing arrow. This is a drop-down box that you’ll use frequently to control your account. Click the arrow to expand the drop-down box and click Settings.
Use the menu here to adjust your settings. For now, click your username (it appears as your email) to fine-tune your profile.
Choose your username carefully. It cannot be changed. When you click Next!, YouTube will save your username and automatically create a channel.
Use this screen to choose the actions that you’d like to appear publicly on your channel’s web page. Choose carefully what you’d like to publicly show. These settings can be changed later.
Once logged in look at the top navigation from any page and you'll see a large yellow button on the right hand side that says "Upload". Click on the "Browse" button to search for your video file that you would like to upload. NOTE: Keep in mind that your video cannot be longer than 10 minutes or 1GB in size. YouTube now accepts nearly any video format so incompatibility is rarely an issue. If you do have issues, use the "Help" function to search for support articles. Once you have selected your video you are taken to another screen that asks for a Title, Description, Tags, and Category. This page is very important because you want to use your Favorite Keywords from your Keyword Grader for optimization in each of the relevant categories. Once filled out click "Save Changes." You can now choose to upload another video or see the progress of this video. To see the status of this video and the rest that you have uploaded hold the mouse over yourusername in the top right hand corner and select "My Videos". This screen gives you status of your videos, video views, comments, and other data. Create a Video Channel
This is the control panel for your channel. Right now, it looks kind of plain and a little complicated. It takes some elbow grease to fill it in. Let’s take a look at Roundpeg’s YouTube channel to see a finished channel page. Once you have created your account and uploaded your first video, you should set up a YouTubeChannel. Your channel is where all your videos are stored and is, essentially, your YouTubelanding page where other users can subscribe to new content you post, become friends, send messages and share your channel. See Roundpeg’s channel for an example. By default your channel is created, but branding and customizing it is important. Once logged in click your username in the upper right hand corner. This will take you to your Channel page. You should see a yellow button that says "Edit Channel" on the left hand side of the screen. Click on it. Here you can give the channel a title, description, and your keyword specific tags. On the left click "Channel Design." Here it is most important to spend the time to brand your channel using your company colors. On the left click "Organize Videos." Once you get more videos it will be important to make sure that your best videos are displayed in the top 9 video slots for optimal viewing.
This is our Youtube channel page, the same view we see when we log in. From now on we’ll be using this channel as our example. Remember, you can click the dropdown box in the upper right hand corner next to your user-name to access your account controls. Let’s click Videos and jump in to creating and editing video playlists.
The easiest way to create a new playlist is to click the “+New” button from this page. Enter a new title and description to begin. Click Create playlist.
Adding Videos to Playlists: In the Videos & Playlists menu, check the videos you want to add to your playlist. Click the “Add to” dropdown box to choose which playlist you’d like to add the selected videos to.
There is much more that you can do with YouTube besides simply uploading videos. Probably one of the best features is being about to embed videos on your website. This allows you to have video on your site without having to worry about any of the technical knowhow or hosting headaches associated with video. Embedding YouTube Videos on Your Website You aren't limited to only embedding your videos, you can also embed any video from YouTube on your site. Here's how: Go to the page of the video that you would like to embed. On the right hand side you will see "Embed" with a window of code to the right of it. If you click in the window to the right it will highlight the code that you can then copy it. NOTE: To the right of that window is a sprocket that you can click on to get customized options like player skin colors and video window sizes. Browse to the page that you would like to embed the video. It is important to recognize that this JavaScript code needs to be copied into the HTML code, not directly into a WYSIWYG editor. If you have access to edit the page source code you can simply paste it where you like. If you are using a Content Management System like HubSpot you will need to go into the editor and look for a "HTML" or "Edit Source" option and click on it. Once in the HTML you can then paste the YouTube code where you would like and click save.
Commenting on Videos Commenting on Videos can be an interesting strategy. This is really only valuable on videos that are about your industry and have tens of thousands of views, or more. With this volume of views, commenting will add to the conversation and can be just as valuable as engaging in a blogs comments. Favoriting Videos You don't have to produce video for you to create a list of your favorite videos to share with others on YouTube. Creating a favorite is an easy way to bookmark specific videos for later and also shows engagement in the YouTube community. Plus, if it's already been created, why recreate the wheel and do it yourself? Sharing Videos YouTube has an interesting feature where you can share a video on multiple social sites directly from the video page. Sharing videos is a great way to engage your community on other networks with your videos or videos that you favorite. Share options include email, Facebook, Digg, and others. Creating Playlists Also underneath videos is an option to create a playlist. If you produce multiple videos in a series, creating a playlist is a great way to tie them together. This is also a way to categorize favorites. YouTube provides some analytics about videos that you have created. You can get here by visiting the video page, clicking on “ You Tube Insight Insight," or returning to the "My Videos" section and choosing "Insight" for the specific video. Insight is not of much value unless you have a video with thousands of views. This can tell you if a video has been embedded on any sites, although the only intuitive way to know the exact URL of the embedded video is to go to the video page and underneath the video click on "Statistics & Data." By visiting your account page you can also click on the "Insight" button to get a full overview of all your videos. The overview of all your videos can help you understand which videos are performing best, some popularity data, and demographic data about your videos. Video Promotion Similar to buying television time, you can "Promote" your video from the "My Videos" section under each video. This works like pay-per-click (PPC) advertising and allows you to buy traffic to your videos based on keywords that you choose to target. With the right kind of material this can be much cheaper than television advertising. HD Video YouTube recently began accepting HD video content (720p) on their site and you can upload this type of video as long as your video falls within the basic requirements (1GB size and 10 minutes in length). When a visitor is on your video page there is an option to "View in HD." Although it's not well documented, you can add &fmt=18 to the end of the video URL in the embed script or a link to a video for automatic HD viewing
