2. What was the ideal audience, in
terms of age?
The ideal audience for this film was young teens all the way to
young adults, especially for viewers aged 16 - 25.
The film features young actors portraying roles that relate to people
of that age, older viewers could still correlate with the mature
themes present within the film such as mystery and conspiracy.
In terms of film certification, we would edit the film in a way that
allow us to achieve a 12A rating so the amount of potential viewers
would as families with young children could also go and view the
film.
A good example of where this was done was the film Taken 2 which
was re-edited to a 12A rating unlike its prequel which had 15 to
make it more family friendly.
3. What was the ideal audience, in
terms of gender?
From audience research, our group realised that thrillers in
general are more preferred by males while females preferred
romance, musicals and fantasy.
In that case we focused on making the film more appealing to
males, especially young males aged 15 – 25.
I think a flaw in our thriller is the fact that there are no female
characters, this may put off females to go and watch our thriller.
This is due to them having no one to relate to as the plot
thickens.
4. What was the ideal audience, in
terms of social class?
In terms of social class, I do not believe that is a factor in terms of us
making the film appeal to an ideal audience.
The thriller features both upper and working class characters, both
maintaining and challenging stereotypes.
People of any class would be able identify with the characters
present in the thriller.
5. The Ideal Audience
The most important thing, we as a group, had to take in account
before making the thriller was mostly what age the thriller would
appeal to most.
We were looking to reach the widest audience possible so we had
to make the thriller’s plot and narrative understandable for all ages
as we were making the thriller in mind for a 12A rating.
