The following document is designed to assist you in preparing
for entry into College or University. Below are a series of
questions that address many of the gaps that first and second
year students typically experience before starting post-
secondary school. Being able to answer all or most of these
questions will aid in the transition from high school to post
secondary. Please take your time in filling out this document.
If you do not have the answers, take the appropriate steps to
find those answers. An unfinished checklist could be a
precursor to a rough year, so please ensure that you fill out
this document accurately and honestly.

2. Checklist of Things I Need To Know About My College/University
□ How do I check that the information my college/university has about me is correct?
□ Where do I go to find out about when I can enroll for F/W courses?
□ Where do I find information about what courses I can take in my declared major?
□ Where can I find information my program of study – like what courses I have to take, what
electives can I take, what are the other requirements of my courses?
□ Where is the list of important dates like:
o When do classes start
o When is the last day to drop courses without financial penalty
o When is the last day of classes before exams
o When is the last day to drop a course and it does not appear on my transcript
o Is there any days/holidays when classes are not held in the fall term
o When is the first day of exams for the fall term?
o How do I know when I will have an exam or if I will have one?
o When is the first day of classes in the winter term?
o When is the last day of classes in the winter terms?

o When is the first day of winter term exams
o When is the last day of winter term exams
o When do I enroll in courses for next year?
□ How do I pay for my fees and what is the process?
□ Where can I find out where my classes are?

□ Where can I check that I am on the right track with my courses?
□ Where is the writing support centre on campus?
o How do I make an appointment
□ Where are workshops offered for study skills like test taking, note making?
□ How do I connect with my Disability Services office (DSO)?
o Do I call?
o Do I send them documentation?
o How soon can I see them?
o How do I set up my accommodations?
