Assure Method Day 5
1. Assure Method
Analyze The Learner- Teaching significant changes during the Industrial Revolution to a 5th
grade class. 12 boys, 8 girls, 60% white 30% African-American and 10% Hispanic. 3 students in
the class have an IEP.
State Objectives- After a class discussion, my 5th grade students will be able to summarize and
explain the main ideas of the Industrial Revolution. After participating in the class discussion
and watching a YouTube video regarding child labor during the Industrial revolution, my
students will be able to share with myself and their classmates what the Industrial Revolution is,
and how different children were treated during that time period. My student will be able to list
and explain 5 significant changes, events and inventions that greatly impacted society with a
98% accuracy rate after one week.
Select Methods, Media and Materials- On the 5th day, we will begin class printing out each
group’s poster and hanging them on the walls so each group can present to the class. Each group
will present their posters, describe their invention, the inventions purpose, why they believe it
will be successful, and they will self-asses themselves as a group to their peers and myself. The
class will also turn in their final web quest worksheet in the labeled box in front of the
classroom. Materials needed for final presentation day is printer paper, printer ink, and tape to
post the class posters.
Utilize Media and Materials- Students will be presenting their projects and turning in their web
quest assignment. After their presentations are given and their web quests are turned in, the
student’s final assignment is to create a blog on their bloger.com and will be asked to right a
2. reflection of their presentation and posters, along with a reflection of their web quest journey and
their blogging experience In their reflection, they will discuss 5 significant changes and or
inventions that occurred during the Industrial Revolution and how it has impacted our society
today.
Require Learner Participation- Students will be required to participate in their group
presentation as well as participating in their blogs after class.
Evaluate and Revise- I will evaluate and assess the students on their participation in class along
with their hard work and description of their posters. I will also assess the students based off of
their blog reflections and their overall performance of their web quests.
