2. RECOUNT TEXT
A text that telling the reader about one
story, action, or an activity. Its goal is to
entertaining or informing the reader.
Sebuah teks yang menceritakan sebuah
cerita, kegiatan, atau aktifitas dengan
tujuan menghibur atau sekedar informasi
bagi para pembacanya.
Social Function: To retell events for the
purpose of informing or entertaining (Untuk
menceritakan sebuah kejadian dengan
tujuan untuk menginformasikan atau
menghibur.

3. Generic Structure:
Orientation: Provides the setting and introduce to
the participants, tell who was involved, what
happened, where the event took place, when it
happened (Menceritakan kepada para pembaca
tentang tempat, siapa saja yang terlibat, dimana
cerita itu diambil, dan kapan terjadinya).
Event: Tell what happened (menceritakan
bagaimana event tersebut terjadi (lagi), dengan
urutan ceritanya.
Re-Orientation: Optional, closure of an
event (Berisikan penutup cerita.
Language Feature: Ditulis dalam bentuk past tense
(lampau)

4. R.A. Kartini
Every april 21 people in indonesia commemorate the kartini
day. It is beautiful day for the woman because we celebrate the
birth of great lady R.A. Kartini. Everyone knows who kartini is. she
is our national heroine and a great lady with the bright idea.
Kartini was born in 1879 april 21 in mayong jepara. Her father
was Rama Sosroningrat Wedana (assistant of head of regency) in
mayong. her mother, Ma Ngasirah was a girl from Teluk Awur
village in Jepara as the daughter of a noble family, she felt luck
because she got more than the ordinary people got. She got
better education than other children in november 12 1903 she
married adipati djoyodiningrat, the head of rembang regency.
According to javanese tradition Kartini had to follow her husband.
then she moved to rembang.
In september 13 1904 she gave a birth to her son. his name
was singgih. but after giving birth to a son, her condition was
getting worse and she finally passed away on september 17 1904
on her 25 years old.
Now kartini has gone. but her spirit and dream will always be
in our heart. nowadays indonesian women progress is influenced
by kartini's spirit stated on collection of letter habis gelap terbitlah
terang from the dusk to the dawn.

5. NARRATIVE TEXT
Purpose
The basic purpose of narrative is to entertain, to gain and
hold a readers' interest. However narratives can also be
written to teach or inform, to change attitudes / social
opinions eg soap operas and television dramas that are
used to raise topical issues. Narratives sequence
people/characters in time and place but differ from recounts
in that through the sequencing, the stories set up one or
more problems, which must eventually find a way to be
resolved.
Types of narrative
There are many types of narrative. They can be imaginary,
factual or a combination of both. They may include fairy
stories, mysteries, science fiction, romances, horror stories,
adventure stories, fables, myths and legends, historical
narratives, ballads, slice of life, personal experience.

6. Features
Characters with defined personalities/identities.
Dialogue often included - tense may change to the
present or the future.
Descriptive language to create images in the
reader's mind and enhance the story.
Structure
In a Traditional Narrative the focus of the text is on a
series of actions:
Orientation: (introduction) in which the characters,
setting and time of the story are established. Usually
answers who? when? where? eg. Mr Wolf went out
hunting in the forest one dark gloomy night.
Complication or problem: The complication usually
involves the main character(s) (often mirroring the
complications in real life).

7. Resolution: There needs to be a resolution of the
complication. The complication may be resolved for
better or worse/happily or unhappily. Sometimes
there are a number of complications that have to be
resolved. These add and sustain interest and
suspense for the reader.
To help students plan for writing of narratives,
model, focusing on:
Plot: What is going to happen?
Setting: Where will the story take place? When will
the story take place?
Characterisation: Who are the main characters?
What do they look like?
Structure: How will the story begin? What will be
the problem? How is the problem going to be reso

8. The Legend Of Surabaya
A long time ago, there were two animals, Sura and Baya.
Sura was the name of a shark and Baya was a crocodile.
They lived in a sea.
Once Sura and Baya were looking for some food.
Suddenly, Baya saw a goat.
“Yummy, this is my lunch,” said Baya.
“No way! This is my lunch. You are greedy” said Sura.
Then they fought for the goat. After several hours, they
were very tired.
Feeling tired of fighting, they lived in the different places.
Sura lived in the water and Baya lived in the land. The
border was the beach, so they would never fight again.
One day, Sura went to the land and looked for some food
in the river. He was very hungry and there was not much
food in the sea. Baya was very angry when he knew that
Sura broke the promise.
They fought again.
They both hit each other. Sura bit Baya's tail.

9. DESCRIPTIVE TEXT
Teks descriptive adalah suatu bacaan yang
mendeskripsikan dan menjelaskan dengan detail tentang
seseorang, suatu benda, tempat, atau hewan.
Struktur teks descriptive (generic structure) adalah :
1. Identification (identifikasi) adalah pendahuluan ,
berupa gambaran umum tentang suatu topik.
2. Description (deskripsi) adalah berisi ciri-ciri khusus
yang dimiliki benda, tempat, atau orang yang
dideskripsikan.
Ciri-ciri teks descriptive :
Menggunakan simple present tense
Menggunakan attribute verb, seperti be (am, is, are)
Hanya fokus pada satu objek tersebut.
Tujuan teks descriptive adalah to describe
about “objek” in detail/particular/specifically/general

10. MONAS
The National Monument (or Monumen Nasional) is a 132
meters tower in the center of Merdeka Square, Central
Jakarta. It symbolizes the fight for Indonesia’s
independence. The monument consist of a 117,7 m
obelisk on a 45 m square platform at a height of 17 m.
The towering monument symbolizes the philosophy of
Lingga and Yoni. Lingga resembles, rice pestle (alu) and
Yoni resembles a mortar rice (lesung), two important
items in Indonesian agricultural tradition.
The construction began in 1961 under the direction of
President Soekarno and the monument was opened to
the public in 1975. It is topped by a flame covered with
gold foil. The monument and museum is opened daily
from 08.00 – 15.00 every day throughout the week,
except for the last Monday of the month the monument is
closed.

Purpose of a Procedure Text :
To describe how something is accomplished through
a sequence of action or steps. or the communicative
purpose is to tell the steps of making or doing
something.
Tujuan komunikatif nya: memberi petunjuk tentang
cara melakukan sesuatu melalui serangkaian
tindakan atau langkah.)
Generic Structure(struktur teks):
-Goal/Aim (Tujuan kegiatan)
-Material/Ingredients/Tools (Bahan-bahan)
-Steps/Methods is a goal followed by a series of
steps
oriented to achieving the goal. (langkah-langkah)

12. Language Features of Procedure Text:
•Imperative form (pola kalimat impratif), ex: Cut, Pour,
Don’t mix, dsb.
•action verbs: turn, put, don’t, mix, dsb.
•Connectives/conjuctions (untuk mengurutkan kegiatan),
ex: then, while, dsb.
•adverbials (untuk menyatakan rinci waktu, tempat, cara
yang akurat), ex: for five minutes, two centimetres from the
top, dsb.
•Use simple present tense
•Mainly of material processes

Atletico Madrid and Barcelona showed the battle for the title
would be a long, drawn-out affair after the Spanish coleaders drew 0-0 in their first league meeting of the season
on Saturday.
Both teams finished the first half of the season tied on 50
points after an exciting, back-and-forth showdown at Vicente
Calderon Stadium yielded no winner.
Barcelona was troubled by Atletico pair Diego Costa and
Arda Turan throughout, while second-half substitute Lionel
Messi enjoyed the visitors' best chances as the Barcelona
forward headed wide before forcing goalkeeper Thibaut
Courtois into a clutch stop in the 81st.
Neymar also came on in the second half for Barcelona but
the Brazil striker made little impact as the teams played out
their third straight draw following the summer Spanish Super
Cup series.
