In this advert which I analysed it was about drug awareness and the effects of cannabis. The
company is called Talk to Frank. When it comes to the style of the radio advert the first
impressions I got from it was that it was serious/slightly aggressive but also with a humours
side, I think this is a good mix when it comes to advertising. The tone of language which was
used was quite aggressive at first because of the story line which was used, then suddenly it
got quite informative and explained the effects of drug use. When it comes to how many
times the company name was mentioned, it was only said once at the very end of the advert
and it was website address. Like I just said, contact details were mentioned this including a
website and a phone number.
Music and sound effects were not used when it came to this advert, the voices created the
visual effect of two males speaking to each other using different tones of languages. The
main purpose of the advert was to raise awareness of the effects of marijuana and by doing
this they used one of the affects (giggles) and another (panic attacks) and created them into
the form of voices into someone’s head. They made up a scenario of the two affects being
voices and some sort of confliction is started and so forth.
Now onto my overall conclusion, what I thought was good about it was that it was a quite
scary advert. The voices and tones which were used were really well thought of and put
together and I wouldn’t have changed it in the slightest. On the other hand the bad points,
well not bad but it was very intimidating and real and I guess its good how they did this
because these are the actual effects of marijuana.
