Reading Year 8 focus group Selecting £230 worth of Graphic Novels (14) What are Curiosity Kits? a Curiosity Kit contains... a non-fiction book on a topic likely to appeal to the target audience, e.g. mountain biking A commercial magazine on the same subject Related print materials if appropriate, e.g. leaflets, newspaper article on a bike race Word search containing key subject words An activity sheet / A fiction book linked to the subject / A related website address / An evaluation sheet Delivery Target Group selected by AS Staff would visit the MRC once a fortnight to choose a Curiosity Kit. Expected Outcomes (Proven in other trials) Increased enthusiasm or motivation for reading Increase the range of people with whom they share reading Creation of the borrowing habit – increasing the number of books they borrow and read Beneficial effect on student attitudes
