The Pacific Ring of Fire is a belt of active volcanoes around the edges of the Pacific Ocean. It forms at the boundaries where tectonic plates meet, including where the Pacific plate meets other plates. There are many deep ocean trenches in this region due to the subduction of plates. Major earthquakes frequently occur around the Ring of Fire because of the collision and movement of tectonic plates in this seismically active area.
