is composed of several management tools. Differentapproaches in accounting, production
management, information processing, marketing, etc. have been developed to solve the problems
in SCM.Logistics is that part of supply chain process that plans, implements and controls the
effective flow and storage of goods, services and related information from the point of origin to

also given attention . Logistics and supply chain management is critical to the success of any
company which manufactures or handles goods. It monitors the movement and storage of raw
materials, maintains inventories of all stock and work that is in progress, and tracks goods from
their point of origin to the final customer. It's also about working closely with a variety of
external partners to find and source the best materials at the best price and maintaining strong
links with suppliers and customers. logistics and supply chain management degrees provide the
skills and knowledge to be competent and competitive in this field.
Green logistics
Logistics is the integrated management of all the activities required to move products through the
supply chain. For a typical product this supply chain extends from a raw material source
through the production and distribution system to the point of consumption and the associated
reverse logistics. The logistical activities comprise freight transport, storage, inventory
management, materials handling and all the related information processing.
The main objective of logistics is to co-ordinate these activities in a way that meets customer
requirements at minimum cost. In the past this cost has been defined in purely monetary terms.
As concern for the environment rises, companies must take more account of the external costs of
logistics associated mainly with climate change, air pollution, noise, vibration and accidents.
This research project is examining ways of reducing these externalities and achieving a more
sustainable balance between economic, environmental and social objective

Disadvantages of logistics
Following are the disadvantages
I. Investment on logistics assets, such as physical distribution centers or information
networks, usually needs large and lump sum costs, which involves financial risks
II. Logistics may lead to lose control of the distribution and storage procedures of the
products
III. Trust issues may arise in logistics
IV. In logistics there is risk of exposing confidential data
V. In case you do not choose a right partner for outsourcing, some of the common
problem areas include stretched delivery time frames, sub-standard quality output and
inappropriate categorization of responsibilities.
VI. Logistics include hidden costs . Although outsourcing most of the times is cost-effective
at times the hidden costs involved in signing a contract while signing a contract across
international boundaries may pose a serious threat.
VII. There is lack of customer focusin logistics . An outsourced vendor may be catering to
the expertise needs of multiple organizations at a time. In such situations vendors may
lack complete focus on your organization’s tasks.
VIII. Whether you sign a contract to have another company perform the function of an entire
department, you are turning the management of that function over to another company .
You will have a contract but in this case one may lose managerial control .
IX. If any logistics company fail to perform their duties on time , they can threat to security
