- Details on this website include the following: Sources of funding for International Students wishing to undertake postgraduate study in the UK Funding for postgraduate courses in the UK, for non-EEA international students, is very difficult to obtain. The main source of funding for postgraduate study in the UK is from the Research Councils but many international students are not eligible to apply. However, there are some scholarships available for non-EEA international students which are included below. Scholarships The UKCISA www.ukcisa.org.uk/student/source_funding.php and British Council www.britishcouncil.org/learning-funding-your-studies.htm websites both provide an overview of how and where to find funding for UK study including Scholarships and The Overseas Research Student Awards Scheme. The British Council’s Education UK website www.educationuk.org./pls/hot_bc/page_pls_all_homepage for funding see the scholarship search link on this page. For university funding, search for courses across the UK and see relevant scholarships listed under the specific university’s profile. The British Council is also constructing a searchable database of scholarships. Check their website for further information. The Association of Commonwealth Universities has launched a new information service for students. Go to www.acu.ac.uk . From their website you can search the latest scholarships and courses from universities in the UK and around the world. Other Awarding Bodies The European Commission UNESCO the United Nations Education, Scientific and Cultural Organisation. Contact the Ministry of Education in your home country for any awards. The Confederation of British Industry (CBI) offers overseas scholarships for engineers from selected countries. Details are available through the British Council, British High Commission or embassy in your home country. A very small number of scholarship programmes, operated by UK voluntary organisations, are open to international students depending on their specific circumstances such as nationality, subject of study and age. Come into the Careers and Employment Service and ask to view the ‘Funder finder’ programme which holds a database of such organisations. Alternative sources of funding KTP Online www.ktponline.org.uk . This programme is usually open to international students with scientific or technical qualifications.
