Optimal management is of the utmost importance not only for manufacturers but also for consumers. This involves maximizing profits, minimizing production and transport costs in the particular enterprise, and shortening delivery times for manufactured products to customers, while providing opportunities for flexibility in developing and changing new conditions. Simulation is the means for exploring different options for this at the lowest cost. The paper discusses the business process simulation essence. There are proposed the components of a business process simulator architecture.

Slides for my vJUG session: http://www.meetup.com/virtualJUG/events/221218531/ In the past I've been building component oriented applications with what I had at hand. Mostly driven by the features available in the Java EE standard to be "portable" and easy to use. Looking back this has been a perfect fit for many customers and applications. With an increasing demand for highly integrated applications which use already available services and processes from all over the place (departmental, central or even cloud services) this approach starts to feel more and more outdated. And this feel does not come from a technology perspective but from all the requirements around it. Having this in mind this post is the starting point of a series of how-to's and short tutorials which aim to showcase some more diverse ways of building (Java EE) applications that fit better into today's requirements and landscapes.

The paper describes an ongoing project of creating an automated assessment tool to help novice students learning SQL in a frame of an introductory database course. In difference to other tools of this kind, the project has chosen a pragmatic approach of focusing on catching common semantic errors, leaving syntax control to professional DBMS. Using agile system development, the project successfully completed two iterations, both of which were tested in practice with satisfactory results. The students appreciated the tool and would like to have similar tools for other subjects, including Relational Algebra, and Conceptual Modeling. The latter is planned for implementation in the near future. The tool is considered to be appropriate for Learning by Failure in the situation of large size classes and short courses. This talk is basically a follow-up of the agile architect talk. It discusses in depth if it is possible to do architectural design emergent only. By examining the different activities and objectives of architecture I show that emergent architecture is valuable but not sufficient and I show a little joint approch how to combine the different kinds of things to do within architectural work.

Business architecture became a well-known tool for business transformations. According to a recent study by Forrester, 50 percent of the companies polled claimed to have an active business architecture initiative, whereas 20 percent were planning to engage in business architecture work in the near future. However, despite the high interest in BA, there is not yet a common understanding of the main concepts. There is a lack for the business architecture framework which provides a complete metamodel, suggests methodology for business architecture development and enables tool support for it. The ORGMaster framework is designed to solve this problem using the ontology as a core of the metamodel. This paper describes the ORG-Master framework, its implementation and dissemination. the presentation was given within the SOMET 2011 conference: http://www.somet.soft.iwate-pu.ac.jp/somet_11/ see the text in proceedings here: http://www.booksonline.iospress.nl/Content/View.aspx?piid=21454 Kudryavtsev, D., & Grigoriev, L. (2011). The ontology-based business architecture engineering framework. In proceedings of the 10th International Conference on Intelligent Software Methodologies, Tools and Techniques (SOMET), September 28-30, 2011, Saint-Petersburg, Russia. P. 233-252.

In the modern world of digital transformation and innovation, the speed of change is permanently increasing. Therefore the focus of enterprise architecture needs to shift from the description of individual independent artefacts to the management of their life cycles, and beyond to the management of the evolution of all artefacts as a whole. This presentation will discuss how several modern techniques, such as architecture viewpoints, patterns, and machine-executable models, can be combined to improve a business architecture’s ability to manage business artefacts and thus to improve an enterprise's ability to adapt to new business models and business challenges.

In BC’s nearly-decade-old “new” curriculum, the curricular competencies describe the processes that students are expected to develop in areas of learning such as mathematics. They reflect the “Do” in the “Know-Do-Understand” model. Under the “Communicating” header falls the curricular competency “Explain and justify mathematical ideas and decisions.” Note that it contains two processes: “Explain mathematical ideas” and “Justify mathematical decisions.” I have broken it down into its separate parts in order to understand--or reveal--its meaning. The first part is commonplace in classrooms. By now, BC math teachers—and students—understand that “Explain mathematical ideas” means more than “Show your work.” Teachers consistently ask “What did you do?” and “How do you know?” This process is about retelling, not just of steps but of thinking. The second part happens less frequently. Think back to the last time that you observed a student make—a necessary precursor to justify—a mathematical decision. “Justify” is about defending. Like “explain,” it involves reasoning; unlike “explain,” it also involves opinion and debate. In order to reinterpret the curricular competency “Explain and justify mathematical ideas and decisions,” I will continue to take apart its constituent part “Justify mathematical decisions” and carefully examine the term “mathematical decisions.” What, exactly, is a “mathematical decision”? Below, I will categorize answers to this question. These categories, and the provided examples, may help to suggest new opportunities for students to justify.

God is a creative God Gen 1:1. All that He created was “good”, could also be translated “beautiful”. God created man in His own image Gen 1:27. Maths helps us discover the beauty that God has created in His world and, in turn, create beautiful designs to serve and enrich the lives of others.

This slide will show how to set domains for a field in odoo 17. Domain is mainly used to select records from the models. It is possible to limit the number of records shown in the field by applying domain to a field, i.e. add some conditions for selecting limited records.

Mixin classes are helpful for developers to extend the models. Using these classes helps to modify fields, methods and other functionalities of models without directly changing the base models. This slide will show how to extend models using mixin classes in odoo 17.

As Odoo is a comprehensive business management software suite, the Calendar view is a powerful tool used to visualize and manage events, tasks, meetings, deadlines and other time-sensitive activities across various modules such as CRM, Project management, HR modules and more. In this slide, we can just go through the the steps of creating a calendar view for a module in Odoo 17.
