1. How to Create Business Flyers Online for
Printing
Why pay a graphic designer to design simple promotional fliers when you can create
them yourself? You can use Microsoft Word to create quick-and-easy promotional fliers
and save the big bucks for high-end brochures and other marketing materials. With a dash
of creativity and a little computer know-how, you can be on your way to creating a
foolproof flier to promote your business effectively.
Instructions
o 1
Launch Microsoft Word and create a new file. Go to the "File" drop-down
menu and select "New."
o 2
Adjust the page margins and orientation for optimal printing. Go to the file
drop-down menu and select "Page Set-Up." Click on the margin tab and
create a one-inch margin around the entire document. Make sure you have
the portrait page orientation option selected, and press "OK."
o 3
Add your message. Try using a text box to position your text rather than
typing directly on the document. Go to the "Insert" drop-down menu and
select "Text box." The text box gives the user more control as to where he
can move the box on the page.
If you are looking for a more traditional design style, try using Times New
Roman or Baskerville font. Arial fonts and other sans serif fonts lend to a
more modern design aesthetic in comparison with Times New Roman. As
noted on searchfreefonts.com, "Arial is an extremely versatile family [and]
can be used with equal success for text setting in reports, presentations,
magazines, and for display use in newspapers, advertising and
promotions ."
Be sure to create separate text boxes for your heading and the main text.
Make sure to increase the size of the heading to between 55-72; use the
bold feature to capture attention.

2. Insert your logo--it's just good marketing. For optimal printing, only use
logos with a resolution of a least 300 dots per inch (dpi). For best result,
only use files with a .jpg file extension. Word cannot support .tiff, .gif
or .png images. To add an image to your document, go to the "Insert"
drop-down menu and select "picture or picture from file." Select the logo
you want to use from the file directory and press "OK/Insert." Once the
image appears on the document, right-click it and select "Format picture."
Click on the layout tab and select "Behind-text" option to move to position
it on the page.
o 5
Add graphics for visual interest. To use Microsoft tools for shapes, go to
the "Insert" drop-down menu and select "Autoshapes." Hold shift and drag
across the page to draw the shape. You can change the color and outline of
the shape by right-clicking and selecting "Format shape." To change the
color of your shape, click on the color and lines tab and adjust the fill and
line colors.
Since this will be used as a professional representation of your business,
use graphics with muted colors: gray, off white, or pastels. Try reducing
the shape's opacity to create a stunning flier that will not compete with the
text featured on your flier. Or, make your image opaque--aka: create a
watermark. Right-click the image and select "Format shape." Click on the
picture tab and change the color drop-down menu to watermark, or
grayscale.

Print your flier. Send your design to SameDayPrinting.com
