The magazine uses a blue, black, and grey color scheme with bright neon glows around text to attract a younger audience in a unique way. Images of both female and male artists are included to appeal to different readers. Black and white clothing on models links to the color scheme. Strong language like "exclusive" and naming popular artists are used to engage readers. Additional internal features like "top ten" and "new comers" sections make the magazine more appealing. Market research found most would pay £2-£3, so the magazine is priced at £2.49.
2. Colour scheme The main colour scheme on my magazine is blue/black/grey. This does slightly contradict other real media products conventionally due to the bright glow around the masthead and cover lines, which links into the theme. Although it is different, the glow makes the colour theme unique away from others but blue is a very popular bold colour which has been used in other magazines, minus the glow. My magazine is not so traditional as I attempted to make the colours look neon for a younger fresh and highlighted affect on the audience.
3. Images I have included several types of images in my media product in order to attract a wider range of audience, female artists as well as male ones are included in the contents page. The female artist should attract male readers whom have an interest and also attract female readers who look up at artists as idols, or even just for fashion tips. The bold colours of the models costumes are very specific with dark colours that also link into the colour scheme. Black and white clothing is the norm of my models. IMAGES
4. Language and Content The use of superlatives helps to address the target audience and useful words such as ‘exclusive’ show a sense of importance within the context of the magazine. I have used several names of artists on the cover lines of the front page, they can attract a wider range of audience depending upon people who may be big fans of the artists, even if they are not a fan of the main artist, the audience may pick up the magazine article if they see that there are other features within magazine that interests them. I think it is important to name popular and mainstream artists on the magazine as well as less successful artists so they can be mentioned for some extra publicity. Strong terms can also be used on the contents page in order to make the reader ask more questions, they would be attracted to a simple phrase such as ‘Re-Yo speaks of desire’ which will engage them to want to know more.
5. Extra features The audience may not only be interested in interviews but by looking at the front page, they will see that inside the product there are other features such as the ‘top ten’ and ‘new comers’ . This could interest them more to want to pick up and purchase the magazine. Internal Features
6. Price The questionnaire asked the public audience how much they would be willing to spend on a music magazine. I used their feedback to price the magazine sensibly. The majority of the people said they would pay between £2 and £3, therefore I decided to make the magazine £2.49, between the two prices.
