2. Brief about UPSC
• Union Public Service Commission is a Constitutional Statutory Body
of Government of Indian which was constituted under Articles 315
to 323 of Part XIV of the constitution. UPSC conducts different
examination every year to recruit Grade A and Grade B Gazetted
officers in different Departments of Government of India. UPSC
conducts Civil Services, Engineering Services, Combined Defence
Services, Combined Medical Services, NationalDefenceAcademy,
NavalAcademy, Special Class Railway Apprentice, Indian
Economic/Statistical Services, Central Police Forces, and Geologist
Examination every year. UPSC is also going to conduct all mentioned
Examination in this year i.e. 2014 also. All details of all examination
i.e. eligibility, notification date, how to apply is described from next
slide.

3. 1-Special Class Railway Apprentice
Examination

SCRA exam is conducted by UPSC every year in the month of January every year.
This exam is conducted to select candidates for Undergraduate Course in
Mechanical Engineering at Indian Railways Inst. of Mechanical & Electrical
Engg, Jamalpur since 1927.

Age of Candidates should be between 17 to 21 years.
Must have passed with 1st or 2nd division in 12th/Intermidiate/Higher secondary
from recognized board with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

Exam Date – 12.01.2014
Duration of Exam – one Day.
Candidates have to appear for three papers in the examination i.e. General Ability,
Physical Science (Physics, Chemistry) and Mathematics. Each paper contains

4. 2-Common Defence Examination I & II

CDS exam is conducted by UPSC every year two times where CDS I is conducted in the month of
February and CDS II in the month of October every year. This Exam is to select candidates for
Defence services to get into the training courses in IndianMilitaryAcademy, Air force Academy and
NavalAcademy, OfficersTrainingAcademy.

For IMA and OTA- Degree of a recognized University with Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level or

5. 3-National Defence Academy and Naval

conducted in the month of April and NDA II in the month of September every year.
This Exam is to select candidates for Defence services to get into the training

IES/ISS exam is conducted by UPSC every year in the month of September every
year. This Exam is to select candidates to undertake in Finance Department and in
CAG for economic analysis.
Eligibility
21-30 years of age.
Post Graduate Degree in Economics/Applied Economic/Business
Economics/statistics/applied statistics/mathematical Statistics from a recognized
university.

Last Date of Apply Online or Offline- 10.03.2014
Exam Date – 24.05.2014
Duration of Exam – Three Days.
Candidates have to appear for six papers in the examination. General English and
General Studies both papers are the common papers for IES and ISS candidates.
After that IES applied candidates have to appear in Economics I, II, III & IV and for
ISS candidates have to appear in Statistics I, II, III & IV each paper contains
questions of 200 marks. Candidates, who passed in the written examination, call
for interview and then selection is done.

7. 5-GEOLOGIST’S EXAM 2014
• Geologists’ exam is conducted by UPSC every year in the month of May
every year. This Exam is to select Geologists’ candidates to undertake in
Survey, Exploration, and water department in Govt. of India.

• 21-32 years of Age
• Masters Degree in Geology/Applied Geology/Hydrology/Marine Geology/
Mineral exploration from a recognized university.
• Date of notification- 15.02.2014
• Last Date of Apply Online or Offline- 17.03.2014
• Exam Date – 24.05.2014
• Duration of Exam – Three Days
• Candidates have to appear in General English (100marks), Geology I, and
II, III and Hydrology paper of 200 marks of each. Candidate who passed in

8. 6-ENGINEERING SERVICES
EXAMINATION, 2014
• ES Examination is conducted by UPSC every year in the
month of June every year. It is conducted for recruiting
candidates in engineering services in different department
of Govt of India.

• B.Tech./B.E. in ME/ETE/Civil/Electrical Engg from a
recognized university.

10. 8-CENTRAL ARMED POLICE FORCES
(AC) EXAM 2014
• CPF (AC) Exam is conducted by UPSC every year in the month of July
Every year. This exam is conducted for recruiting officers in
BSF/CISF/ITBP/CRPF.

• 20-25 years of Age
• Graduate from a recognized university.

Services Exam 2014

Civil Services and Indian Forest Services Exam is conducted by UPSC every year in the month of August. It
has two phases preliminary and main. Firstly candidates have to appear in preliminary examination then
who qualify in preliminary exam will have to appear in the main examination.
