3. LINKIN PARK
In this magazine advert of Linkin Park we have a primary image of all artists in the band..
The magazine institutional information is all over the magazine cover. The title of the
magazine cover ‘Grind House’ is in bold black writing to stand out on a white background.
I can tell it is Linkin park straight away as their band name is across the front of the cover
in bold white writing. The fact that its in the middle in fairly large font indicates that will be
eye-catching and informs the consumer of who it is, Uses and gratification theory. There
are also many Puffs on the cover, this is another easy way of attracting buyers when they
see promotion information. The colours used on the front cover are quite dark and plain
to represent a relaxed atmosphere and to suit the genre of soft rock. The quality of the
magazine cover is very detailed and sharp.

5. COLD PLAY
On this magazine advert of ‘Cold Play’ it is very eye-catching, this is because it is really
colourful. The front cover only has a bright and vibrant background wallpaper. There is
a white bold writing of the bands album name ‘MYL OXYL OTO’ across the front which
will stand out to the audience uses and gratification theory and will inform the
consumer of who it is. The advert has a sketch effect of colouring pencils or paint
effect, almost as if has been vandalized by graffiti.. There’s not much advertising on
the front so it wont be as much promotable. There is in small writing below the album
title which says ‘Pre-order album on iTunes’ informing the target audience on where to
get their music. The name of the band is above the album title name in thinner white
writing to help promote them.

7. ARCTIC MONKEYS
This magazine advert by ‘Q’ is of the Arctic Monkeys, unlike the other magazine advert of
‘Cold Play’ this one is much more consuming as it has a lot more information on the front
such as advertising this will be interesting for the buyer and will entertain them uses and
gratification theory. And dyers star theory because of the artists on the front cover. On this
cover the primary image is in black and white which creates a binary opposition of the two
colours. It also relates to our chosen genre as it creates and incidental atmosphere. There
is a banner going across the cover horizontally with other artists to help promote them and
the magazine. The barcode is placed on the bottom left. Red writing is used as some of the
typography because the colour is very eye-catching and make the magazine advert stand
out more. At the top right it says ‘Best albums of 2009’ in black bold writing this stands out
well and will be informing to the consumer. The magazine advert could do with more
advertising an puffs so it looks more aesthetically appealing.
