4. I competed in Future Business
Leader at Nationals in Orlando.
I was extremely proud of
myself, making it to finals as a
sophomore.
5. At the 2012 State Leadership
Conference I was elected State
President by my peers. By being
sworn in I accepted the duties
and responsibilities of an officer,
promising to carry them out to
the best of my ability.
6. At this summit I networked with
fellow FBLA members and
alumni. I also learned the skills
necessary to guide my chapter
in the following year.
7. At this conference I served
as Region 11 President,
presiding over the entire
conference. I competed,
held a workshop, and
facilitated the awards
ceremony.
8. I earned the Georgia State
Superintendent’s Excellence
Award for my outstanding
leadership ability through
FBLA. This was a lengthy
process from my seven years as
a member, but mainly
culminated from leading the
over 20,000 members of
Georgia FBLA.
9. Future Business Leaders of America isn’t a club to me.
FBLA is the organization that changed my life.
Everything I’ve learned about being a leader can
somehow connect towards FBLA. FBLA has taught me
exactly what it takes to be a leader, and a good one
at that. Through conferences, competitions, and my
chapter confidence has been instilled in me in
everything I do. I have created a family in FBLA;
members will be there for you in any walk of life. I
am proud of everything I’ve done through this
organization, and will continue to be proud of
everything FBLA helps me accomplish. I have grown
up in this organization and it has helped me grow
along the correct path. Without FBLA, I would be half
of the leader I am today. It has shaped my leadership
style completely.
10. Sara Beth: So where did you go to school?
Sinclair: I attended the University of Georgia for my degrees.
Sara Beth: How long have you been teaching?
Sinclair: This will be my 9th year teaching.
Sara Beth: Out of those 9 years, how long have you been an adviser?
Sinclair: I’ve only been an adviser at Archer, so this will be my fourth
year.
Sara Beth: What made you want to teach business?
Sinclair: I felt that youth needed to learn skills that are true to real
life, and something that will help them out in their careers.
Sara Beth: Has being a state officer adviser been everything you thought
it’d be?
Sinclair: It’s been a lot more work than I initially thought, but I’ve
enjoyed bonding with Monty, the other advisers, and the state officer
team.
Sara Beth: Would you do it again?
Sinclair: Not for another four years!
