Why is it important that we teach PDHPE in schools?

2. PDHPE IS IMPORTANT FOR STUDENTS GETTING
THE PHYSICAL ACTIVITY AND EXERCISE THEY
NEED
• Students are suppose to be
getting at least 30mins of physical
activity in every day, but so many
children spend there free time in
front of the television or
computer. PDHPE allows for
students to participant in games
and sports that assist in students
getting the exercise they need.

3. PDHPE IS IMPORTANT IN TEACHING
NUTRITIONAL VALUES TO STUDENTS
• There is so much more variety in
“fatty” and “sugary” foods in this
modern age. Students are temped
from every corner. Its important
that they learn that these are
“sometimes” foods.. Not
“everyday” foods., and they should
be learning about the foods they
should eat every day. PDHPE helps to
teach these nutritional values to
students

4. PDHPE HELPS STUDENTS LEARN ABOUT THE
CHANGES TO THEIR BODY AND GROWING UP
• Students in years 5&6 in
particular are about to reach a
crucial point in there
development-puberty. It is very
important that they are informed
about the changes there bodies
are going to go through and what
it means to grow up.

5. PDHPE IS IMPORTANT FOR STUDENTS
DEVELOPING SOCIAL RELATIONSHIPS
• Primary school can be a first
experience of developing social
relationships for younger
children. It is good for students to
learn values and respect in terms
of making friends. Students also
learn the concept of family and
the importance of these social
relationships in there life.
