6. Aetiology
• Attack of chicken pox
• Virus remains dormant in sensory root ganglion
• Reactivated in old age, without any cause, lymphoreticular
malignancy
• Result in herpes zoster
7. PRESENTATION
• SEVERE PAIN
• After 1-4 days
• Eruthematous,edematous swelling
• Grouped vesicle
• Pustule formation
• Crust formation
• Fall up within 2 weeks with little scarring
• Draining lymph nodes enlarged
8. • Site :- most commonly –thoracic region ophthalmic division of
trigeminal nerve
• Hutchison’s sign :- Herpes zoster eruption on the side of the nose
• Diagnosis :- unilateral,segmental,painful,grouped vesicle
+/- HP examination (giant cell)
