Introduction
All aboard the dolphin cruse!
The boat is short so you
could probably pet a
dolphin! Don’t worry they
won’t bite. Bottlenose
dolphins are very nice to
humans. If I were you I would
pack some lunch and sun
screen for this tour! Come
on Let’s go!!!
Looks like the dolphins are ready to go!
HABITAT / map of where they live
Bottle nose dolphins
live in the Pacific and
Atlantic ocean. They
migrate and go south
for the winter. Bottle
nose dolphins life in
tropical waters. They
live in waters from 50
degrees to 90
degrees. You can
find them in the deep
ocean or by land.
Sometimes
bottlenose dolphins
migrate for more
food!
This is a picture of
bottlenose dolphins

The Life Cycle Of A Bottle Nose
Dolphin
Bottle nose dolphins are
born tail first. After it is
born it stays with it’s mom
for 3-8 more years. The
mom feeds it’s baby milk
for 1 and a half to 2 more
years. Right after the
baby is born the mother
quickly guides it to the
curface.
They also start to mate at
3-8 years. They start to
mate in spring or fall. They
live for about 30 years.
Bottle nose dolphins
live in groups called
pods. In big pod there
can be 40 members!
Bottle nose dolphins
can eat 13 to 33
pounds of food a day!
The life cycle of a goldfish
The female will
lay about 25
eggs but only
the healthy ones
can live. Baby gold fish are called
frys. For about two days
after they had been
hatched they stay
attached to a plant. When
frys learn to swim they
should be fed
Gold fish need lots of
room to swim around in.
They also need plants
and rocks to hide their
eggs. To get the eggs
out the female rubs
against a plant and her
eggs come out!

Characteristics
Bottlenose dolphins are gray mixed
with blue, dark gray, and white.
They have spots and stripes on their
bellies normally. Bottlenose dolphin
are normally 2-3.9 m. in length. In
weight they are 150 – 200 kg!
Bottlenose dolphins are heavy!
Bottlenose dolphins can’t go to a
full deep sleep or else they would
drown! So they don’t drown, they
keep one half of it’s brain awake
and the other asleep! Isn’t that so
cool? Pods help protect other
members of the pod. Did you know
that bottlenose dolphins can live
from 30-50 years! But sometimes
they don’t live as long because of
fishing nets, bad water , or other
animals ate it.
This is a picture of a bottlenose
dolphin caught in a fishing net.
This is a picture of bottlenose
dolphins in polluted water.
This a picture of a
shark killing a
bottlenose dolphin.
Diagram of a bottlenose dolphin
Food
Bottlenose dolphins eat
mainly fish, shrimp, squid,
crabs, and other small
animals. Bottlenose
dolphins get their food
by herding schools of fish
and then they take turns
trying to snatch the fish.
They hunt in pods and
often use echolocation.
This is a picture of bottlenose dolphin being
fed.
Interesting facts
1. Did you know that people don’t know how many bottlenose dolphins are left in the world!?
2. Bottlenose dolphins are not endangered.
3. Did you know that bottlenose dolphins can dive more than 500m.!?
4. Bottlenose dolphins got their name from their stubby nose!?
5. Bottlenose dolphin can make up to 1000 clicking noises a second!!!
6. In the wild they swim more than 18 miles per hour!
7. The bottlenose dolphins has a thick layer of blubber that keeps them warm and protects them from
predators like sharks!
8. They have smooth, sensitive skin that falls off and gets replaced every few hours!
9. Did you know that bottlenose dolphins can hold their breath up to 7 min.?
10. A muscular flap on the bottlenose dolphin’s head opens for it to breath and then closes for it to go back
under water!
11.Did you know that bottlenose dolphins don’t naturally breath, they have to tell their body to breath then
they do it.
12.Did you know that bottlenose dolphins don’t have very much sense of smell?
13.Did you know that a bottlenose dolphin’s eye can look one way while the other can look another way!?
