information from another
person (interviewee).
INTERVIEW TECHNIQUES
These techniques can be classified into five different
catogories
 Before Arranging an Interview
 Preparing for an Interview
 Arriving for the Interview
 During the Interview

Before Arranging an Interview
 Know yourself
 Know the position
a. study the job description
b. research similar positions and gather average salary
data
 Know the company
a. research the organization’s mission
b. Products and growth rates of the company
Preparing for an Interview
 Schedule practice interview to polish your interviewing
skills.
 Rehearse answers to questions i.e. commonly asked.
 Write down five to ten questions to ask the employer
 Select what you will wear to an interview
 Create a professional portfolio. It can include
a. A copy of your transcript
b. Certificates of awards and honors
c. Certificates of awards and honors
FORMAL IN AN INTERVIEW
Arriving for the Interview
 Arrive early, but not more than 15 minutes.
 Leave your cell phone in the car.
 Carry with you only what is absolutely essential for the
interview.
 Enter the interview with a positive, confident attitude,
even if you are nervous
 Treat everyone you meet in the office with respect.
 Greet the interviewer by name and shake hands firmly.

During the Interview
 Be honest and be yourself.
 Answer all questions thoroughly and concisely.
 Use specific examples to support your statements.
 Maintain eye contact with the interviewer(s).
 Sit with good posture.
 Ask questions when the employer gives you the
opportunity.
 Before you leave, ask for a business card from each
person in the interview
After the Interview
 Take a necessary feedback from the interviewer for the
further improvement in the future.
 Send a thank you note to the interviewer as soon as
possible.
 remind the employer of your unique qualifications and
express your genuine interest in the position.

how you demonstrate those.
