CRISPR ……is a family of DNA sequences in bacteria. The sequences contain snippets of DNA from viruses that have attacked the bacterium. The Hymenoptera Anatomy Ontology (HAO) project aims to capture the complex lexica used to describe hymenoptera anatomy. Our core data are extracted from the corpus of published works, particularly descriptions of new taxa. We reviewed the Journal of Hymenoptera Research (JHR) to extract new labels and ontological classes, explored the completeness of the present version of the HAO, and reflected upon community language trends. Three hundred and fifty three (353) Journal of Hymenoptera Research articles were parsed, accessed through the Biodiversity Heritage Library and vetted against the present ontology. New labels (2121) were collected during this process including about 650 adjectives used to qualify morphological features. Language trends were revealed in the process, showing the occurrence of anatomical labels used in the literature, possibly reflecting the character systems and qualifiers we most often use to describe novel taxa. Additionally the novel software used for text extraction is reviewed, outlining possible improvements and useful tools resulting from this effort.

Deans1 1North Carolina State University, Department of Entomology, Campus Box 7613, Raleigh, NC, USA; 2Department of Information Science, University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, NC, USA The North Carolina State {University} Insect Museum is working to image every drawer in the 1.5 million specimen collection and disseminate these data through the Web. The effort is worthwhile in that we expose the "research only" collection to the public, allow for remote curation of specimens, and enable more informed loan requests. The details and process for creating GigaPan (zoomable, mega-pixel images of entire drawers of specimens) images are outlined in the talk. Secondly, as part of a CollectionsWeb Research Coordination Network (RCN) funded internship awarded to Babi Hammond, preliminary results of a survey is presented looking at the use of online entomological collection data. Survey participants are asked to review and rate the utility of multiple online presentations of collection data; specimen information without images, GigaPan images, and detailed images with specimen data. The results will help institutions with entomological collections and the Advancing Digitization of Biological Collections (ADBC) program participants better understand how to apply their resources and digitization efforts.

American, German and oriental, brown banded Mantodea , Isoptera , and Blattaria are usually combined by entomologists into a higher group called Dictyoptera . Current evidence strongly suggests that termites evolved directly from true cockroaches, and many authors now consider termites to be an epifamily of cockroaches, [4] [5] as Blattaria excluding Isoptera is not a monophyletic group. [6]
Secondarly wingless…wingless as adults which is rare in the world of blattaria. Aside from the famous hissing noise, some cockroaches (including a species in Florida) will make a chirping noise
Bringers of doom for the blattaria
300-400 offspring; evaniid comes in again
Cockroaches leave chemical trails in their feces as well as emitting airborne pheromones for swarming and mating. Other cockroaches will follow these trails to discover sources of food and water, and also discover where other cockroaches are hiding.
