Capital punishment
Capital punishment is the penalty or sentence of
death for committing a crime. The sentence of death
has been imposed for such serious crimes as armed
robbery, kidnapping, rape, and treason. People
disagree about whether capital punishment is moral
or if it is effective in discouraging crime. Critics also
believe that there is a risk of executing mistakenly
convicted people.
Pacifism
There are several different sorts of pacifism, but
they all include the idea that war and violence are
unjustifiable, and that conflicts should be settled in a
  peaceful way.
People are pacifists for one or some of these
  reasons:
• religious faith
• non-religious belief in the sanctity of life
• practical belief that war is wasteful and ineffective
Many believe that pacifism is more than opposition
to war. They argue that it must include action to
  promote justice and human rights.
Amnesty International
                     Working to protect human rights

Amnesty International is a worldwide
movement of people who campaign for
internationally recognized human rights for
all. They believe human rights abuses
anywhere are the concern of people
everywhere. So, outraged by human rights
abuses but inspired by hope for a better
world, they work to improve people’s lives
through campaigning and international
solidarity.
Rules of Just War
War is defined as two sovereign nations in
          conflict with one another.

          1. For defensive purposes only.
            2. Never for personal gain.
ONLY as a last resort and ALL efforts to bring
             about peace are exhausted.
  4. The innocent must be immune from harm.
5. War must be as quick and as swift as possible.
  6. Attaining PEACE must be the primary goal.
