15. Sue Pace Name: Sue Pace Location: Santa Ana College Centennial Education Center Beginning One ESL Fall project: A Newbie ’ s Journey with Technology. The project was perfectly described as playing in a sandbox and taking risks. Both higher and lower level Beginning One students with no computer experience were so amazingly accepting of using each new form of technology. I gave them a safe place to take risks. We would repeat in unison that mistakes were no problem. I learned to give myself the same permission to make mistakes. Lessons became richer with technology. If students got stuck, we used Smart Board ’ s Notebook to move around words to understand a grammar point. We applied a lesson ’ s vocabulary by students making quia games and shopping online for clothing and food.
