All moms of children enrolled in Shelby County Schools with a goal of learning to speak, read, and write better in English while also learning how American Schools work and learning how to help their children be successful in school. 15. Sue Pace Name: Sue Pace Location: Santa Ana College Centennial Education Center Beginning One ESL Fall project: A Newbie ’ s Journey with Technology. The project was perfectly described as playing in a sandbox and taking risks. Both higher and lower level Beginning One students with no computer experience were so amazingly accepting of using each new form of technology. I gave them a safe place to take risks. We would repeat in unison that mistakes were no problem. I learned to give myself the same permission to make mistakes. Lessons became richer with technology. If students got stuck, we used Smart Board ’ s Notebook to move around words to understand a grammar point. We applied a lesson ’ s vocabulary by students making quia games and shopping online for clothing and food.
