5. Kushinagar The Holy Place where Lord Buddha entered into MAHA-
PARINIRVANA, 56 kms away from Gorakhpur city, Uttar Pradesh, India. Every
year millions of people come at this Buddhist pilgrimage to see the place
where Lord Buddha last stayed.
Places to visit - Nirvana Stupa and temple, Mahaparinirvana temple, Wat Thai
temple and Ramabhar Stupa. A metals statue of Buddha, brought from Japan,
can also be seen.
6. Sarnath The Holy Place where Lord BUDDHA PREACHED HIS FIRST
SERMON. It is located just 10 kms away from the Hindu Pilgrimage city
Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. Dhamekha Stupa, Chaukhandi, Asokan Pillar and The
Digambar Jain temple are the places to watch.
7. Sanchi A UNESCO World heritage Site, the place is famous for
stupa of Sanchi. The buddhist pilgrimage is located in 52 kms from
Bhopal, the state capital of Madhya Pradesh State. The ASI museum is
also worth a visit.
8. Kapilvastu The Place where Lord Buddha spent 29 years
years of his early life. The city is located 27 km from Lumbini and can be
reach from India and Nepal.
9. Ladakh Falls in Himalayan Region, the place is known for its
peace and tranquil environment. Leh-Ladakh is not only important to
Buddhists but it is also one of the most visited tourism destinations in
India. Places to visit here are Shey Palace, Thiksey Monastery, Hemis
Monastery and Stok Palace.
